Not sure whether anyone has raised this point earlier in the discussion but if you are going to spend more than £100 in tesco, stop the checkout person once you hit over £50 (careful to ensure that all the discounts are applied first, so probably best to wait until it gets to £55-60) and get the first discount voucher. Then get the rest of the shopping scanned and get another one. Big help if you have 2 vehicles in the house, as Tesco no longer let you use one voucher for 2 cars (they used to, and me and OH used to take both cars in at the same time - we were soon rumbled...)0

Love the idea of 5p off per litre of fuel at Tesco, BUT it has proved to be a rather metro-centric offer.
I can't take advantage of it, as there are no local Tesco petrol stations (they are owned by other companies) and don't accept the voucher.
My nearest petrol station is 30 miles away (confirmed when I called their Head Office in Cheshunt).
When I wrote to them about it, the reply was a standard letter, saying it was useful to most clients.0 -

I found it on the 'BVLL !!!!!!' site and have been using it for 5 years since when I've saved £100's on petrol each year and even more of late. I hope this info helps you reduce your bills as it has mine.
What are the savings in comparison to exactly? Looks like another one of those stupid magnets attached to the fuel line.0 -
Went to fill up at local tesco today and price had not been reduced at all,it was 111.9 for unleaded but over road there is a morrisons who were selling unleaded at 108.9,anyway as i had a 5p per litre off voucher it was more economical to use tesco, when i went to pay i asked cashier why tesco had not cut their price by 3p a litre like asda morrisons etc she said it was because of the 5p vouchers,
If you watch Tesco petrol prices prior to the 5p promotion, you will see that they're usually 2-3p cheaper than the local Shell etc. but just before the promotion starts they will be the same price or a penny more. I observed this earlier this year, when I was suprised to find that Tesco wasn't cheaper.
Here is the cheapest 10 in my area, there is a Tescos within this area (Warwick) but it doesn't even get included (I think it is 109.9)

The cheapest fuel does not give you the most miles per gallon. Readers should also read the relevant info at https://www.honestjohn.co.ukFiliss0

I'm glad it’s not just me noticing, I remember a few years ago I thought Tesco were the cheapest around (or at least price matched).
I subscribe to petrolprices.com, and I believe Tesco are often approx 1p more that other stations. Here’s today’s sample
Brand : Sainsburys
Price : 105.9p

Brand : Tesco
Price : 106.9p

I believe on a number of occasions they have put the price up by 1p just before, the 5p off per litre deals happen. Still worth it when the deal is on, otherwise I go to sainsburys down the road for the petrol.
Is this typical of tescos across the country? Or am I imagining things?0 -
