Do Satander confirm receipt of payments by sms/email ?
You can set up email and text/push alerts via their online banking site but not the app.

Options are if the balance falls below or exceeds a certain amount, plus 'deposits greater than' and 'debit greater than'. Setting this to £1 isn't allowed, so I was able to set these to £100 and £50 respectively.

There is a ? (info) button which would presumably tell you the allowed limits, but this doesn't work - at least not on my Chrome browser.

TBH, having got used to the slickness of banking apps from app-only banks like Atom and Chase, Santander's banking site is like stepping back in time - I think the polite expression would be that it's 'functional' :D

Just to provide a bit of a counterpoint to everyone saying how easy it was to open the account: I just applied for one (under my husband's name), and they want him to send in black and white copies of his ID and proof of address... by post! Feels like stepping back in time but aw well. It'll be worth it I'm sure.
(Ironically he had an account with them before)

Yes, my partner received a 'change your details' email. Never banked with santander. With a provide two types of id. Waiting to speak to someone now. Could be a long wait...

Something must have changed between old account and new. Perhaps he changed address. Happened to me, my wife had a closed account registered at our old address.

I closed both my Santander accounts over 4 years ago and have since moved house, but opened the new account today seamlessly.
Test payments in and out within seconds and larger payment was there almost immediately.

Oh yeah, we've definitely moved since he had the old account. I'm just mentioning it because there seem to be people on here who are new to Santander who were able to open their account in minutes. :)

I've been transferring funds from Natwest today to the new esaver, was hoping they wouldn't be blocking large payments (or least not more than once) but turns out I was wrong. Looking forward to more fun and games tomorrow(!)
