I know what you mean although it's not irrational. I was moving money from Virgin Money to the Barclays easy access 5.00% saver yesterday and my online and app access was blocked.Swipe said:Is it just me or does anyone else get irrationally anxious when transferring money between accounts?
I got it cleared today after waiting on the phone for 30 minutes. I had to laugh at one of the script questions though.
"Have I checked that the receiving account was FSCS registered?"
I had to say no, but that I suspected that Barclays Bank was and that their website was quite convincing. The Virgin Money person also chuckled and said that was fine.2 -
I also got the confirmation email but it mentioned having to send photocopied ID in the post. What a faff, competitors will probably beat their rates by the time it’s sorted.I do have an account number and sort code though so does this mean I can deposit regardless and earn interest from now? What will the temporary delay in sending these docs mean?0

You may not be able to make a withdrawal before ID verification.0 -

I'm trying going into a branch tomorrow to see if they accept my ID that way, if not they can poke it. Not posting that much info nowdays, early next month they'll be an higher rate.

I have a ghost account (from the Abbey National days). Problem is - I have literally no memory of opening it (there are reasons why that’s been possible). They’ve asked for me to do a change of details thing - finding the two proofs of ID was OK (though once again made harder by me having neither a passport or a driving licence), but the form asks for prior address, and I didn’t know what to put! There are around 12 possible ones, only four of which I can remember the details of. So I’ve just had a best guess. 🤷♂️ Such a faff.jimexbox said:
Yes, my partner received a 'change your details' email. Never banked with santander. With a provide two types of id. Waiting to speak to someone now. Could be a long wait...julicorn said:Just to provide a bit of a counterpoint to everyone saying how easy it was to open the account: I just applied for one (under my husband's name), and they want him to send in black and white copies of his ID and proof of address... by post! Feels like stepping back in time but aw well. It'll be worth it I'm sure.
(Ironically he had an account with them before)

I have to say that patience is not a really strong suit... so you can see the occasional toy flying about, I mostly leave the dirty work to Colsten...lol2 -
We've lived at our current address for 16 years, so we've just used that. Spoke to two reps today, total waste of time. Offered no information as to why they wanted a change of details form, apart from the usual 'maybe a fraud check'.dgpur said:

I reckon that these questions have been drawn up by lawyers, to reduce the risks of banks having to pay out to people who complain the bank didn't exercise due diligence / lacked duty of care and allowed them to transfer their funds to some scam outfits.RG2015 said:

So, managed to create a payee via the Santander app - fresh set of eyes once I finished work. Would not let me make a payment out of the eSaver this evening - "Sorry - something went wrong" but have tried a future payment for tomorrow and that took. See if it pays out in the morning and I can start funding and also close some sub 2.75% regular savers too.Mortgage and debt free. Building up savings...0

Alternatively, to quicken the process, you can take your two forms of ID to a Santander branch and these will be processed for you - you will need to provide the OLA reference number. I did this today.2Sheds said:Applied for the Santander E-Saver (2.75%) and got the email saying accepted.Alas I have to complete a change of details form and send that in the post with photo copies of 2 forms ID and along with a print of the email they have sent saying I'm accepted. !!
