Applied for the Santander E-Saver (2.75%) and got the email saying accepted.

Alas I have to complete a change of details form and send that in the post with photo copies of 2 forms ID and along with a print of the email they have sent saying I'm accepted. !!

Amazing how not that long ago Chase at 1.5 was all the talk and now we are talking about almost double that and Chase has fallen off the radar
  • Thank you Santander. My banking affairs have simplified enormously. About half of my regular savers plus a couple of easy access accounts will be emptied and closed in one fell swoop. Coventry, Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Lloyds, Santander regular savers to close, with Bath, Mansfield, SRBS, Loughborough to be emptied. Nationwide 1Y triple access saver to be closed. Al Rayan has days before it too will be emptied.
Might it be a good idea to cease regular payments and withdraw all but the minimum allowed to keep them open? Some of these societies will have to increase their rates surely. Otherwise the mass outflow and lack of new funds may cause them to be underfunded.
  • Thanks Santander for my fixed mortgage @1.89% til dec ‘26 and my 2.75% savings

By emptied I meant reduce to minimum allowed to keep them open. I'm shutting any with a fixed rate (provided they have no penalties for doing so) as I can't see rates dropping anytime soon. As for Nationwide they seem to keep bringing out new issues rather than increasing the rates on their existing issues so I might as well have the interest from that account now.

Do Santander run a credit check for opening the E-Saver account? We're in the middle of a mortgage application and have been holding off on opening new accounts, but I'm very tempted by this one.

Thanks to all you nice people, saw the thread 15mins ago.

I am new to Satander but got my account opened in mins, i then sent a test 1£ payment. But I won't know until I receive my login pack in a few days which should have my pin/registration code.

Do Satander confirm receipt of payments by sms/email ?
