And if you don't have one, the information is of no use, as you cannot now open one.
And, unusually, it is on topic.

This, together with a proper keyboard and freedom from being interrupted by unexpected incoming calls & texts, makes it significantly more secure than waving around a phone and struggling to carry out complicated financial transactions using a microscopic virtual keyboard..
It takes a lot more effort and techie knowledge to make (and keep) a PC secure.
A persons confidence in their ability to use a particular technology is another matter and is quite subjective with many more variables.
For many people, getting used to a small screen & keyboard is achievable. Whereas learning how to maintain a PC (and keeping that knowledge up to date) not so much.Personally I use both PC and phone app. I wasn’t as comfortable with the latter to start out with but have no issues with it now.As I mentioned earlier I think the discussion about PC and smartphone technology is off topic for this thread. All I will say again is that while I use both a PC and smartphone for accessing financial info, I'm not comfortable with using the microscopic virtual keyboard for keying in highly sensitive detailed financial data. It also has the risk of being interrupted by an incoming phonecall or text. Please discuss further detailed technology issues here:

Why people can't just accept an account isn't for them for whatever reason be it due to interest rate, dislike of institution or being unable / unwilling to keep up to date with technology the institution is using and just move on is beyond me, seems certain people will always have to comment and criticise even though I can guarantee the majority of people have been happier with the rate they offer than be concerned with it being App based!!Molehusband said:
I agree and I suspect that's why this bank is called "Atom" because it expects customers to operate their accounts using phones with microscopic keyboards. I don't mind using my phone to view information about my account including validation codes etc. However I'm not interested in using them for things like setting up detailed information about payments I want to manage. I need the comfort and security of a PC on my desk accessing a website to enter complicated data.1 -
As for Atom reliability when I signed up for it less than a year ago I paid the cash in no problem and linked it to my current account. The next day I got an email from them saying that an account had been linked to it and to contact them if this was a surprise.
As I'd received a confirmation of the linking the day before I was concerned and couldn't log in and was cut off by their phoneline after holding for around an hour. I also emailed them and am still awaiting a response to that!
It turned out they had a major meltdown and all or most customers received misleading emails. I was less than impressed by this on my first full day as a customer. They did credit my, and I believe every account with £15 compensation.0 -

Yes, that’s right - we’re increasing your savings rate Hello RG2015
We’re giving you a little something to thank you for being a loyal customer. As the Bank of England base rate recently increased, we’re passing this straight on to you by increasing your Savings Account Standard Rate by the same amount of 0.15% from 11th January 2022 to help you save even more.

Nothing from Tesco Bank yet. I will be moving my money from Tesco Bank over to Virgin M Plus Saver account (VMPS) on March1. VMPS is linked to Virgin M Plus Current account (VMPC). This means to withdraw money externally from your VMPS you first have to transfer to your VMPC and then on to your chosen recipient. However you can fund your VMPS directly by faster payments.

Yet existing customers, who like myself opened their savings account before the latest BOE rate increases, are now still getting 0.84% for the first year after opening the account. It seems that Tesco, like many other savings institutions, are in no hurry to pass on the recent rate increases to new customers.
