  • How do you work that one out? Marcus did not send me the email confirming they had transferred money until the day after I requested

  • I usually make any withdrawals in the morning, I wonder if that makes any difference.  Just checked the latest Saturday withdrawal.  The text and email from Marcus confirming the withdrawal were timed 11.28.  The text from the receiving bank confirming the deposit is also timed 11.28, and I transferred funds on from there at 11.30.  I never depend on it happening at weekends, and your case proves that I shouldn't, but I don't recall it never happening instantly.

Sorry, I thought you were agreeing with dc_scotland that you received a text from the receiving institution.
    Wearing my other one today.
  • Sadly HSBC banks don’t send a confirmation text

  • Always had instant withdrawals from Marcus to Nationwide and now the same from Investec to the same regardless of day of the week

I have made several Marcus weekend withdrawals and they have always arrived in my nominated account on the same day, until last Saturday (19th Feb).

There was clearly a problem. I got an error message saying; "Sorry, something seems to be wrong"

I went back to do it again but found that it had been completed. However the usual text and email from Marcus did not arrive and nothing appeared in my nominated account that day.

The next day, Sunday 20th, I received a text and an email and the money appeared in my nominated account later on Sunday.

Edit. I made the withdrawal on Saturday morning so it wasn’t a problem by being late in the evening. Fortunately, I have a Tesco Internet Saver and got the required amount on Saturday morning.

For info Shawbrook now released issue 29 of their easy access saver paying 0.72% versus 0.67% for previous issue….for existing customers you don’t need to open a new account you can just secure message them asking to change account to issue 29.
Thanks for the info was wondering how to get the new issue.  Do they normally reply to the secure message fairly quickly.

Yes I received the email today too:
As usual, RCI Bank will increase the rate we offer to our existing Freedom Savings Account customers to match the higher rate we are offering to our new customers. This means the rate on your Freedom Savings Account was automatically increased from 0.55% AER gross variable to 0.70% AER gross variable on the 18th of February 2022.

It is good of RCI to raise the rate automatically.

I know it can be a headache with some providers when they bring out a better rate, when you ask they won't let you re-designate your old account to the new issue and instead you have to open a new account with a new account number - which means you then have the hassle of setting up new payee details in the linked account.

Aldermore - also do this and raise the rate for existing customers in line with their latest offer.

Shawbrook - also let you re-designate old account to the new issue when there is a rate increase, secure message them asking to change account to latest issue (thanks tg99).

Yep normally within 1-2 working days. I messaged them over the weekend and had a response earlier today.
