The original attraction was the savings interest rate better than others two years ago, but not as competitive for a year or so now. The cashback on card spend was a bonus but it's possible many haven't bothered now £1500 per month needs to be paid in for £5 or so cashback - leading to them making this new offer. Spreading payments into the new savings account over the coming months might also be a way to qualify for cashback.

Thank you for this, but still just showing the 4.10%.
did you have more than £500 in your Chase savings account(s) on 8th March ?
    No, well below that.

Had a response from Chase. Other than removing my name, this  is verbatim:

I understand how this might seem unfair ( ...). The reason why it's an offer to limited and qualified customer only, is because we have a regular savings account for customers who would not be able to qualify and be eligible. No worries, we always consider our customers' satisfaction, and if this gets reviewed, hopefully the offer will be available for more customers like you.

I have asked for clarification of the second sentence. Maybe it makes sense to others but I'm struggling to see what the intended meaning might be.

    "Sorry, but tough"

    That's probably about right.   :D

  • Had just over £500 on the 8th March, if they had picked 18th March, I would have had a very low balance. Complained and after a wait for a specialist of 1hr 40, I got:

"I know this is important for you, <name>. While we do treat each our customers fairly, this is a targeted offer, but we may have others you are eligible for in future. Per T&Cs this is a limited offer that can be pulled at any time. What I can do is to log a feedback about it so we can make sure we cater your request. To be honest with you, we're seeing number of customer's complaining about it and we want to make sure your requests are being heard. This is something we can look into. Once there's an update or change on the criteria, we will definitely let you know."

I got no email or notification and when went into app on Home Screen clicked on the offer box but said not eligible. Then clicked on Save and Invest and offer was again presented and this this time successfully opened and showing 5.1%.

I suspect that the Customer Service Team won't be buying drinks for the PR team for some time to come.

Secure Trust Bank Access Iss 13 now 4.9% £1min (replaces Iss 12 at 5.05%)
Ooooh I bagged Issue 12 just in time then.

Got my Issue 12 opening confirmation today
It seems Secure Trust are one of those nice banks that structure their application links very logically (only thing that changes is the issue number) and aren't very good at disabling old application links.

I applied for issue 11 last night despite it being NLA for a while, I received an email this morning telling me the account is now open, I deposited £1 and the correct interest rate of 4.98% gross (5.1% AER) along with my £1 deposit is now showing in online banking.

A quick glance seems to suggest all application links going back to issue 6 are still alive and well.
How did you do this - if I login the application from is from a drop down selection and I can’t see how to edit the link selected
or did you do it as a new customer and get another online profile ?

I got exactly the same! 😂   Not holding my breath that anything will change though.

Shame, as I was generally pretty happy with Chase (happy enough to not feel the need to stop using the debit card anyway...), but this has made me think whether I perhaps should shift things about a bit.

Secure Trust were one of the banks that I'd never had any accounts with so I just applied as a new customer. The links as a new customer are easy enough to alter, though it seems I'm unable to successfully alter the links as an existing customer.
