I have opened a Newcastle BS Tracker online and transferred some money in. There is no way to withdraw money from the account, neither via the website nor via the Android App. There just isn't a button, link or menu item to do it. All I can do is show a statement. There's something seriously wrong with their IT.
Do you not have the huge "Authenticate your nominated bank account" message? Like cymruchris said, you need the code in the post before you can withdraw to your nominated account.
For me, that message only appeared a day after the account was opened. So yes I'll just wait for the post to bring me my code, but it's far from obvious that this is going to be the process when you initially sign up...
2 letters from Newcastle BS for me this morning. And 2 for Mrs Arty (joint account) All of them are 'welcome' type letters and none of them have the verification code I need.

    Poor old rainforests...
Another day's post, another day without the all important verification code letter from NBS. This is getting mildly annoying...
All I’ve had from them so far is a text survey asking how I found setting up the account! No confirmation of any deposits, no welcome letter, no verification code etc etc. I did get a welcome email though and have checked the money reached the account. They are a lot slower than other accounts opened this year.

I had issues with making deposits into my NBS account.
The initial deposit went fine, but once the account was properly active and I had received everything I needed through the post, my deposits kept being bounced back.
After several emails and even taking to someone over the phone, it still didn't work so I closed the account.
Did you use the account number rather than the application reference number after the first deposit?

It says in the initial email "Your unique reference number quoted above, which should only be used for initial payment to Newcastle Building Society"
I did yes, I was sent an email showing me what to put where and talked through it over the phone.
After 3 attempts I gave up.

I got the 2 letters from NC on Friday but no verification code. I'm not putting anymore money in until it arrives.

My Investec EA account now showing as 4.12% (balance needs to be over £5000)

Just moved all my money out to another account a couple of days ago and now they match the rate.
They must realise moving slowly and catching up doesn't mean people will move back money?

I haven't had anything from NBS (apart from a welcome email) - I'm not sure whether I needed to provide ID - it wasn't explicitly clear - I haven't had any letters in the post at all - I sent them an online form enquiry last week - no response - just tried to phone them and they had a wait time of "up to one hour" - I gave it 24 mins and gave up. I didn't try to "apply again" last week - mainly because I had already sent an opening deposit (of more than £1) to the account details and the initial deposit ref no - so didn't want to create two accounts and have problems unravelling - clearly, they've been overwhelmed with applications - and now with phone calls and other enquiries - let's hope it gets sorted soon (along with the ability to easily withdraw if needed).
Your receipt of application email from NBS will state in bold type whether or not you're required to submit proof of id.
Looking back at that email - there is a paragraph (in bold) which reads:

"As you were asked for confirmation of your identity and/or current residential address....etc.....click here for help with identification documents. Please send all documents to the address below"

Is that the bit you mean?

However, it wasn't really clear when I applied for the account online that that was required - I just read the bit about "we will attempt to identify you electronically or something similar" - at no stage did it flash up with "we have been unable to therefore we will require you to send documents" -

So I guess that means I need to send them - and until I do I won't get confirmation of my account number? But I assume the initial deposit I sent using the ref number will turn up at some stage.

    Thanks for your help.

It also doesn't mean folks will move money out!
I like Investec, and realised long ago that, although they might not be top-of-the-pile all of the time, they're pretty much always there or thereabouts.

For the amounts that I keep in EA accounts, a difference of 0.2% or so even over a whole year - never mind a couple of weeks - isn't worth the effort of moving for me.

YMMV of course. Just presenting an alternate perspective 😊

I know: 14 day notice is hardly EA... But not a big imposition for some, either.

RCI E-Volve £1k min 14 Day Notice ac 4.30% RCI Bank E-Volve Savings 14 Day Notice Account | RCI Bank

14 days notice isn't EA ,so it wont get a rank. But a ToTP rate & maybe useful to some.....
