I don’t know if I can be bothered to set up an account with a new provider for 0.05% extra on a smallish sum for such a short time. Then the question becomes would I close the account or would I just leave the £100 min balance there - genuinely don’t know. Would be good to have to maintain membership in case they release any good products in the future, and also to avoid having to wait for the postal verification code again I suppose - usually more than happy to stick a speculative pound in accounts, but I haven’t bothered with Harpenden BS or Family BS because £100 has much more earning power.2

If I'm understanding correctly debit card deposits before 5.30pm on a working day get added to the account and are available for withdrawal the same day? Presumably they start earning interest from the transaction date too.
This policy seems different to other banks and building societies, who usually require at least two working days before the funds start earning interest and become available.
Is this right? If so it would become an attractive option for the Halifax Reward account debit card payments each month.0 -
