The initial deposit went fine, but once the account was properly active and I had received everything I needed through the post, my deposits kept being bounced back.
After several emails and even taking to someone over the phone, it still didn't work so I closed the account.
It says in the initial email "Your unique reference number quoted above, which should only be used for initial payment to Newcastle Building Society"0 -

Just waiting for the code by post.
I would rather wait a few days for the extra security it provides and having an account linked to a nominated account is also good security.
Why would you want to draw it out as soon as you put it in anyway.2 -

I opened the NBS account yesterday. I got two emails, the first a welcome, the second my ID. I then sent over a small amount from my bank. Today it as appeared in my NBS account, along with the verify message.
I now will wait for my code, and then verify my account. To be honest, it seems to have gone fine, in my case.1 -

Two letters just received from Newcastle - both totally useless TBH. One is thank you for opening account with acc details and the other is time to fund it. No mention of authentication code to enable withdrawals. It just says when you first log in to carefully check the details of your chosen nominated bank before you transfer funds, Which obviously isn't possible yet.So don't get excited when you get yours4

See this link (mid way down page 2):
https://www.coventrybuildingsociety.co.uk/content/dam/cbs/member/pdfs/savings/rate-change-notice-savings.pdf
The Four Access Saver (Online) is going from 4.00% AER to 4.50% AER.
The Four Access Saver is going from 3.60% AER to 4.30% AER.
Pretty sure this is now NLA but otherwise would be topping the tables after the rate rise on 7th July, although there's still a week for others to overtake.0
