Even if it's still available for a while longer it's still always best to get in there while you can with these top paying accounts. You snooze you lose.

    Bank authentication code?

I applied and deposited at the end of the application, when it gave the sort code, a/c number and reference

The Newcastle Account is No Longer Available.
    Still on their website 🤷‍♂️

    Not any longer.

    On their front page now.

Newcastle Base Rate Tracker (Issue 1) has closed

Please view our other available products.

Maybe it's not that they have reached their funding limits but are overrun with people paying in £1.

However if you click through it is still on the easy account accounts page. I haven't tried applying for it as i'd already done that earlier in the week.

I think what @n3ophyte is implying, is that some people won't commit significant funds into the account until they know they can physically withdraw it, should they choose to.

Newcastle Building Society won't know how much money is waiting to be deposited, to be sure they have, or will, reach their target.

Oh sure. You can put money in. Just try getting it out again without having first authenticated your nominated bank account for the withdrawal :s

It was showing as NLA. Maybe they changed their minds!

Or maybe not. Looks like link bypassed this message

I signed up for a Newcastle Building Society account on Wednesday and immediately supplied a digital copy of my driving licence, as well as submitted a £1 payment same day but I've not gotten my account setup yet. Anyone had it take this long?
Not possible to prove identity digital form, you have to post copies
And there's two items required as per their lists.

I think their printer has overheated with all the welcome packs being sent out  :#

Don't open an account with Hampshire Trust Bank in that case. They send me a letter through the post for EVERY transaction, deposit or withdrawal!

Ditto Secure Trust. They arrive about a week after the event by which time it's a bit late had it not been me making the withdrawal.

Seriously, though, it's not surprising if they think many people are just depositing £1 to hold the spot till something better comes along (which it probably will) - not worth the postage/admin for them at some point.
