Santander Refer a Friend

If Santander are doing this to gain market share...it's going to give false figures if accounts are being opened purely to switch in!!! They'll no doubt claim (to their shareholders) 1000's of accounts switched to them and pat themselves on the back.:rotfl:How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

A reminder for people: the 'how it works' and FAQ document is https://www.santanderreferafriend.co.uk/howitworks
T&Cs are here: https://www.santanderreferafriend.co.uk/terms.php
How soon after initiating a switch can a friend claim the Amazon vouchers? 'Waiting till the switch is complete' is part of the introduction to the system? TIA0 -

for reference.
I've started a switch today (over the phone to an existing Santander account) and been given a switch date of 14th June, (7 working days).
using that as a guide and assuming you can enter a claim ON the 18th we have until Monday 10th (final day) to get a switch started.0 -
This has turned out to be one hell of a rare offer in that the number of people seeking to be referred appears to match the referrers. Can't imagine how much this has cost not only santander, but all the other banks opening new accounts and issuing cards/letters etc with no gain.. The consumer wins big time.
No because theyll just put up rates for all their customrs, their is no "win win" situation.0 -

The application page for generating codes went offline 1 day earlier than expected (evening of 17th May). Based on this, I am going to assume (dangerous, I know) and say that the claim page will also go offline on 17th June. Tomorrow is the last day to start a switch. Even that would be pushing it.
I diarised today as the last day to start a switch with a decent safety margin.
Having said all that, they may pull the plug a lot sooner.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Probably not always but we have had superb offers in the past. Sadly, the banks have gradually wised up
It came at a very good time for many people who were perhaps hanging on to BoS Vantage, maybe Club Lloyds, old FlexDirect, a couple of Tesco due to drop this month, and perhaps 2 or 3 donor accounts ready for the odd offer here and there. So it provided the added benefit of facilitating a good tidy up!
Of course there is now a problem...we'll need to assemble another few donor accounts ready for if/when the banks write lax switching offer T&Cs again.0
