We have a spare Nationwide Joint FlexDirect that we could switch into our Santander Joint 123 Lite. We would appreciate a second opinion from the forum on if one of us referred the other to initiate the switch it might break the 'cannot recommend yourself' terms?

I think this would be a problem (if you are referring each other) as switching a joint account.requires a joint instruction.

I thought of doing this with a dormant joint Natwest, but like you thought that this would not work as you are both named on both accounts (unless someone else refers you).

I therefore opted for my husband to switch (a sole BOS) into our joint Santander and I'll just open another Santander account to switch 1 of my Tesco's later.

I am unsure if I could switch into the joint account, as the T&C's state about whichever joint member claims the gift card 1st (but not sure if that only applies to switching a joint into a joint)?

Thanks yes I might look into the process of removing my partner from the joint Nationwide account in advance of switching. It should then be ok even if the final Santander account is joint?

The T&C's I think are quite clear that you will only get one reward per account switched (the other reward going to the person who referred you) even if you are switching into a joint account.

If you are referred by someone other than each other then the Amazon voucher is paid to the person who claims the gift card first. This is not relevant If you are referred by each other because you cannot refer yourself.

Did anyone who has claimed their vouchers actually get any confirmation over and beyond the message "Your details have now been sent", followed by some standard text that actually refers to requesting referral codes?

  • Does refer a friend also work if I have a loan taken through one of Santanders older online affiliate campaigns?

Can someone who has done it let me know if you need to enter the referral code during the Santander account application process? I assume there is a place where you enter it? Thankyou!

No you don't enter the referral code during the application process.

    There's a helpful FAQ: https://www.santanderreferafriend.co.uk/faqs.php
