Is there any chance of getting my £30 payg credit back from TPO? Has anyone tried?0

Number porting only takes place Monday to Friday in office hours. So nothing would have happened to Monday at the earliest.
Plus this is one area where Plusnet's community forums shows lots of complaints about Plusnet Mobile number porting.

Anyone having trouble porting their number out? I'm switching to Plusnet and it's been four days and no port yet. Getting a bit concerned.
Yes I put in my request to port my number to SMARTY from TPO on Saturday. I contacted SMARTY Monday and was advised it would be done by 5PM Tuesday. I contacted SMARTY last night after 5PM and was advised their networking team are chasing TPO for the relevant details to complete the process. I contacted TPO this morning to raise a complaint and haven't had a reply. The letter states that my number needs to be ported by 26 FEB or I will lose it. This is really annoying me because my husband is in hospital and there will be extended family who will struggle to contact me.0 -
I ported to Three the other day and it took 36 hours. I had split service all that time. Was not a happy bunny.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

I think that Smarty looks like a good deal. I don't think it explains this very well, but for your own phone, it refunds you the proportion of the data you don't use to the nearest penny, down to £5 if you don't use any data. Or just above £5 if you use very little data, like a member of my family.
I think this is a good deal because it gives you unlimited minutes, unlike most of the alternatives at a similar price, which could be good in a crisis.
The reason it looks a bit more expensive is that the data refund is not factored into a price comparison. But remember that most people use less than half their data, having a larger package to cope with a peak month. So it is ideal if you think you might use 0.75 Gb with an occasional peak of a up to 4Gb. e.g. That would cost you £5.94 most months, which is competitive with 4Gb/unlimited calls deals out there.
It is also good at preventing bill shock, as you never pay more than your monthly plan which is paid up front. This is great if you give it to a younger family member or an au pair.
One of the review sites points out that for your own phone, you might as well use one of their higher plans as the monthly cost will be exactly the same. It just gives you more headroom for a peak month. What Smarty does not explain well is that all the plans (except unlimited data) will cost you exactly the same for the same usage - the only difference is the monthly limit on what you spend.0 -
I've had same problem porting, I uploaded PAC onto website on Saturday, yesterday (Wednesday) still hasn't gone through. Contacted Smarty and got the below response:
"We've identified an issue with customers transferring their numbers to us from TPO: at the moment, TPO haven't sent us all the information we need to bring your number over to SMARTY. We're working with them to get the issue resolved, and you'll get an email when the transfer completes - if the issue isn't fixed within three business days, we'll contact you with an update."0 -
Yes Smarty does look like a good deal. My usage is normally just under 1 GB but I went for the 2GB option because I do go over 1 GB once every few months - and wanted a reasonable monthly "cap".
In hindsight, considering the first month's free I should have gone with the LARGE plan because the difference gets deducted from next month's bill, however SMARTY do allow you to buy add-ins at the same rate as the plan so having a bigger plan might be more convenient, for not having to log in and buy a data add on - but if you do you still get the same rate. A win-win for me.
The reasons I didn't go with ID for their £5 plan was because unlimited minutes seemed much more agreeable than 500 minutes - also because Id stitched me up two years ago when I asked for an "upgrade" for my kids' mobiles. Also technically I'm not a "new customer" to Id.0 -
Mine has finally ported now0

I submitted my port request Monday evening (18-Feb), still waiting for the transfer to go through (today will be the 4th business day since sending the request, it's meant to take 2 max). I have two handsets so I can see what's going on with the TPO SIM - it went offline earlier today. Fingers crossed that this means my number is transferring otherwise that's my number lost for the weekend and maybe longer.
I'm pleased that steps have been taken to allow TPO customers to transfer their numbers but clearly it's clogged the system up (and I guess things are likely to be ropey at the TPO end).0
