i'm not entirely sure why everyone is so impatient and panicky about finding out the unit rate/sc from eon next and doing multiple searches/quotes as soon as eon next has been announced as the solr.
We already know its going to be broadly based on the cap, just like every other supplier. Prices are rubbish at the moment, we all know this, there's little benefit in switching at the moment as there is very little cheaper around unless you want to take a punt on neon reef who may or may not go bust soon.

Surely just relax, most of you have enough credit on your symbio accounts to take some of these increased charges. Wait for the account to be transferred over and reassess.

At least the symbio hatred should stop now.....as have the excellent prices!

Well said sir! - too much headless chicken behaviour from people. My supplier Green. folded and I've been put with Shell Energy on their variable rate at circa 25p/kWh!!!! but I can't do much about that at the moment so I won't worry, but I will be ready to move when the opportunity presents itself.

To be honest, it's a bit of a hobby for me :D

Symbio massively overestimated my usage since my last confirmed reading a few months back. They were ahead by around 2MWh.
Just wondering if I don't submit a meter reading to Eon Next, will they just take the latest Symbio estimate as the start point?
Would be quite handy to have effectively 'pre-paid' at Symbio rates for a few months whilst hoping prices drop by the time my meter readings align again.

This has already been discussed elsewhere.
They will most likely chase you for an up to date meter reading. Whether you give the accurate one or a higher one is up to you. Some will say thats technically fraud.
You could chance not giving a reading and seeing what happens.

If E.ON Next have any sense they will completely ignore any Symbio estimates.  E.On bill in arrears, not one month in advance as Symbio used to.

You'd have to bank on no-one from Lowri Beck coming to verify your meter reading.

Symbio have just emailed me another bill for the period: 01-08-21 - 26-08-21. They've also correctly worked out that my account is in credit with them for £50.72, the same as my own calculation. The original bill claimed I owed them £40.58.
They fitted a smart meter on the 27th August so this is effectively the final bill for the old meter that they promised a few weeks ago.

You missed the third one, pre payment meter, which fits in with the 3 different price cap headings.

Potentially it could be as a consequence of the price cap having three differnt levels based on payment types

1 - Credit  (probably paying you bill on demand - ie when it's issued which tends to mean that the account is always in arrears
2 - Other - possibly direct debit (but I dont actually know) maybe even if you've got a smart meter or not
3 - Paygo - where they have additional costs in collecting payment

I've tried to find out but as in most things OFGEM related it's not ever so easy - perhaps someone else has the answer

look here for price cap levels - https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications/default-tariff-cap-level-1-october-2021-31-march-2022

and this is from another of their FAQ documents

"Different factors also affect how much suppliers change their prices (the rate they charge you) to meet the cap:

    • where you live
    • how you pay (prepayment, direct debit or standard credit)
    • your type of energy meter.
