Just reading all the gumpf re Symbio.
They have taken £240 and £212 from me over the last 2 months when usage was minimal..we were away 3 weeks of August 2021.  Going to contact them tomorrow and see what is going on.  Don't hold any hope of getting any of the money back after reading this thread, and others.
They have no idea what usage we have as they have not actually used ANY of the meter readings I have submitted over the last 7 months.  They are just making it up.  They aren't actually using the tarriffs quoted to me for Kwh and standing charges.
I suspect they will fold soon as no business can keep going like this for any length of time.
Just got asked for a meter reading this morning, which I have submitted and shows that they owe me about £220.
    Just complete and utter bandits.
How do I complain through ombudsman etc.?

Don't bother giving a meter reading on anything but the last day of the month, if you do, they just ignore it.

Tomorrow is the only day of the month that all happy Symbio customers get up and take a reading before they do anything else! ;)
I always do. I have up until recently taken a picture of meter via app and sending it through. However for the last few months when I press submit I get logged off every time.
  • Literally true for me, I've usually sent it by 7 a.m. although it might be a little later now it's dark in the mornings as my meter is outside!
  • Ive just worked out my bill and over the last year have payed over by about £3k. Ive just cancelled the d/d. I work alot of shore  so just havent kept my eye on this bill. Any ideas on best procedure. On reading these boards i can see a tough fight coming to get the cash back !!
  • Ofgem confirmed as well.
Surprised they didn't try to collect an extra DD payment like they've done in the past to keep themselves going.

It was inevitable. Was a good run while it lasted.....lets all now not moan about symbio and enjoy paying at least double for our electricity now!!

What I am surprised about was symbio only had 48000 customers!

Tough fight isn't the word. They only owe me £60 + £60 compensation and it's impossible even after emailing them continuously every 3 days. They just reply with sorry I've forwarded it to accounts again, over and over. The only chance of getting your £3K back is for them to go bust.

Your credit balance is 100% protected by the Ofgem Consumer Levy so no fight should be needed. Compensation though is probably in a different category unless the supplier has added it to your credit balance. If not, then you sit in the long list of unsecured creditors.
