They have increased my EAC by 11%Feb usageActual; 189Symbio estimate: 3241

I came here to post the same thing.
Our EAC has been increased by 12%0 -
Ironically my EAC's gone down, because I submitted a complaint to get them to correct it. It's only taken them 4 months to do it :-(. In the end they only relented because I said I was going to the ombudsman if they didn't (since they use EAC as the basis for their billing algorithm). They wanted to increase it by 10% because "the industry" says it’s due to the pandemic.
I actually tried to get them to set EAC to AC, since they have 18 months of consumption data, but they point blank refuse to do that. I must admit these people are the most incompetent and genuinely thick people I've ever encountered. But at the moment they're still cheapest so switching to pay more is not an attractive option.
Their March estimate is even higher than January and February. Only on planet Symbio could energy consumption be higher in Spring than Winter!0 -
New tariff in April for those who on variable were asked to swap maybe? My March estimate is the same as Feb.Tallerdave said:Ironically my EAC's gone down, because I submitted a complaint to get them to correct it. It's only taken them 4 months to do it :-(. Got a small amount to pay this time as I got caught out by their not sending reminders meaning a high bill before, so they didn't catch me out this time and the bill is smaller.
The new variable tariff for me will be cheaper than the current tariff,so guess they are grabbing money whist they can.
Do they do seasonal estimates for four seasons, or is it just Summer/Winter?0 -
My estimate too is even higher than the last two months. Even though my actual usage is more than 50 percent less than their estimates. I know I did get them a year ago to decrease of eac from 4800 to 4400 but it did not make any difference and at one point my summer estimates were sometime higher than than my winter ones. However as you say they are cheap and because I really do not trust them I prefer to pay variable amounts each month rather than using a fixed amount.Tallerdave said:Ironically my EAC's gone down, because I submitted a complaint to get them to correct it. I have been with them since April 2019 so they have enough data for them to base their estimates on.0 -
Sounds like the excuse of higher monthly estimates during the winter months was just a lie then...
I've also seems that they're standard reply to 1 star reviews on Trustpilot now includes a threat to sue the person who left it by including the following link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-559816000 -
It would appear in my case that is so. I take the trouble of sending them a picture of my meter read each month but that is just ignored.UnclaimedEnergy said:Sounds like the excuse of higher monthly estimates during the winter months was just a lie then...0 -
Mine's up 11% - so now about 42% higher than reality. Ironic because I put exactly the same complaint in at the beginning of Feb - told them I wouldn't usually do it as a formal complaint but I didn't want to be accused of being a cyber-bully if I talked about it on social mediaTallerdave said:Ironically my EAC's gone down, because I submitted a complaint to get them to correct it. Heard nothing, so I've just written to them moving it to Step 2 and told them I will be contacting the Ombudsman in 28 days - as per their complaint policy.

My annual consumption is running at 4300kWh. Their ludicrous estimates over 12 months total around 6500kWh. I'm not even sure how they come to those figures based on an EAC of 4700kWh!!

Yep, mine's up 12% but it's still cheap electric and over a year I do actually end up paying for what I've used.
