Now here is an idea to make money. Set up an energy company with low rate and good service and the punters will follow. Then later hike up the amount you bill them, yes you will loose a few but there are lots of fools out there who will be easily fobbed off with simple excuses. Once the bank account is over flowing transfer to another bank and then go bust. The government will pick up the pieces  PS I leave on 7th  this is a bit tongue in cheek but may be close to the truth
Symbio are inept, I don't think they have the brains to pull off such a stunt and it's too late now anyway. The January bill estimate hike corrected itself with the less hiked estimate in the February bill.  If the March bill returns back to the original EAC/12 level, then we'll all be straightened out as if it never happened.
And I'm still up by the 116 kWh they've given me for free so far....
  • Suppliers are allowed up to 6 weeks to produce a final bill from when they cease supplying you. Carry over of a balance to the next bill is not uncommon, especially for those that pay monthly by direct debit.

Not sure what you are finding confusing; this is presumably not your first electricity supplier nor your first ever switch in your 15 years as an MSE forum member
Confused as there shouldn't be any further invoice
Been nearly 6 weeks so they are holding my money to the bitter end
Also left zog energy final bill and refund received within 10 days
Talktallk final bill and refund received again within 10 days
Was not a switch was a house move after nearly 20 years so unsure how the final bill time frame compares in this instance and Symbio are the only company that hasn't refunded and are still collecting payments

Suppliers always produce a final invoice. As I said, they are allowed up to 6 weeks from ceasing to supply you to produce that.

It's not the 6 week time frame that is the problem its the fact they are still sending bills and helping themselves to money I don't owe this shouldn't be allowed fair enough if I owe money but due to there way over inflated January bill I don't

I thought it's the new company that takes over, or a fund paid for by all the other suppliers?  Either way, it's consumers that pay the bill.

Wow that was quick. Email received from symbio today informing me my refund will be in my bank account within 2 working days.
I suspect by refund they mean just the credit they owe me (it doesn't actually mention the sum of the refund or acknowledge they know about the automatic compensation)

However if the 30 pounds compensation is not also refunded (they have 10 days from its due date yesterday) I shall be pursuing  them for it

  • I'm finally free from the shambles of symbio. I transferred to green and I must say I am very pleased with the app, online chat, emails it's ticking all the right boxes. No more random direct debits being taken from my account that did not match my symbio bills, thank goodness for the direct debit guarantee.

Ditto - should be interesting; having been away nearly half the month I am due a refund of 272 units (on an estimate of 658). I hope their sophisticated algorithms don't reject it as abnormal. With spring not far away I'm also expecting a more realistic estimate for March

So my meter readings are in, and I'm sure they will be verified in due course.

Symbio, in their infinite wisdom, only estimated I would use 56% more electricity than I actually did for February.

I estimated as soon as I received the bill it would be vastly overcharging, and therefore unfair, hence why they never got a penny. No reply to my complaint, and that was sent almost 3 weeks ago.
