If you could kindly submit a meter read for February 2020 by the 29th of this month, we would then be able to bill you accurately as per your consumption.

Please be aware any meter read submitted after the above-mentioned dates will not be considered for the current billing cycle (March 2020) but will be considered for the billing month of April 2020.

So does that mean the end of free electricity if later reads are not included?

Symbio are now in breach of the late refund of credit owed ofgem rule

Therefore I have notified them they now not only owe me my unpaid credit but also owe me 30 pounds compensation
How many rules have thus company broken
Ofgem have also been notified by myself of the breach

I'm surprised they are behaving this way because when they refunded my account it was done within two days.

Away from this company Utility Point promised me a refund of £105.00 because of change of tariff. This was nearly 4 weeks ago. However they just sent me an email advising my new dd amount will be take shortly. I just love these minnows!

You need to monitor your online account with them too, as that gives polenty of notice of what DD payments are planned. If you think no more payments are due, they can immediately set the collection to £0.00
You need to keep the DDI live to allow prompt repayment direct to your bank account - they should close it for you once it is all done and dusted.

If you've already received the official advance notice for the collection, it may be too late for UP to stop that collection, but you can ask. If not, they refunded our money the same day once it was taken in error

I have not left them. They had a cheaper tariff available and the advisor said he could arrange to refund £105 as I was quite a lot in credit. I was only paying £5.00 a month to get the credit balance down. They now have put me on this new deal and the first payment of £26.00 is due in a few days by dd and then £12.00 a month thereafter. So I am feeling a bit annoyed there is no sign of the promised credit and the fact I will paying an increase in my dd.

I'm certainly not surprised considering this forum and other review sites are filled with people complaining about Utility Point not refunding promptly. You might have been lucky when they still had their act together when you left them but that is certainly no longer the case and hasn't been for a good few months. I switched away from them way back in September and had to fight tooth and nail for my credit and late payment compensation to be refunded.

It certainly looks to be the case. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Well I provided last month's reading within their stated timescale and they ignored it, so I have zero confidence that they'll use a reading provided by the 29th anyway. I'll try my previously successful "day after previous estimation period" approach and see what happens. The only unknown is what they will do with last month's ignored reading.
Whilst they may have changed their system, I'm sceptical because they can neither spell or do simple maths, so unless they've spent some money employing someone who knows what they're doing re-programming a billing system, how will they have changed anything?
  • Today I have received a revised bill for January it doesn't say final bill but it is for the period up to the moving out day there is a credit balance and the email says this will be carried over to the next invoice which is a bit confusing.

Ah mine said those exact words   then I received a email saying final bill. With a proper bill. Credit was due to be refunded in 7 or 8 working days they said. 10 days is ofgem limit. On 11th day you are due compensation

Suppliers are allowed up to 6 weeks to produce a final bill from when they cease supplying you. Carry over of a balance to the next bill is not uncommon, especially for those that pay monthly by direct debit.

Not sure what you are finding confusing; this is presumably not your first electricity supplier nor your first ever switch in your 15 years as an MSE forum member
  • Now here is an idea to make money. Set up an energy company with low rate and good service and the punters will follow. Then later hike up the amount you bill them, yes you will loose a few but there are lots of fools out there who will be easily fobbed off with simple excuses. Once the bank account is over flowing transfer to another bank and then go bust. The government will pick up the pieces  PS I leave on 7th  this is a bit tongue in cheek but may be close to the truth
