Good and Bad Buying at Lidl and Aldi (***Please don't expire***)

Though it sounds cheeky. I just go in just to look at the boxes (if any). Go back with or without purchasing a box to get the F&V I need, either there's none in the box or need more - such as maybe a couple of tomatoes, where I need a punnet etc.0

Well I hope they are willing to be a) flexible and b) disappointedduncanthedog said:
That's where you have got me, my answer was aimed at the person asking about the boxes so unlikely that it would be an afterthought for them.Rosa_Damascena said:
Its hit and miss but in truth once I bagged up and ready for the walk home the last thing I want to add to my load is another box. Its only ever going to be an afterthought for many of us as we are purposely directed to the F&V at the store entrance and the box is luck of the draw as to a) whether it exists, and b) its content.duncanthedog said:
Tell the person on the till that you want one but not until you have checked them first.od244051 said:What is the best way of obtaining a £1.50 fruit n veg box from Lidl? Been a way for a few days in the UK so only got a couple of carrots, two peppers and half a bag of onions. The boxes are back of the checkouts. Entrance and exit doors are next to each other in foyer (where flowers are).
Never had a box before so unsure of the protocol. Plus if any veg not in the box which I want, can I get them?
You are lucky that your shop even has them, I have only seen the boxes in my shop twice since they started. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Lidl there were plenty of eggs. Though in free range and organic, they were only in boxes of half a dozen. Also there were some white eggs from a farm around Telford. There were boxes of 10 British eggs for 99p.charlies_mum said:Went into Aldi last week and they had no eggs. Lidl has none this morning and Home Bargains don’t have any either. Is there an egg shortage ?0 -
Back from Lidl and there was one F&V box though it was bananas (yuk) onions (had plenty) and savoy cabbage (yuk). I normally shop on Fridays and see them then.
Though got a pack of diced chicken breasts for 90p. Used Lidl Plus coupons for loo roll, which I was planning to buy next week and their gold coffee.0 -
Newgate baked beans - 4 pack in Lidl seem to have vanished although there is still a space on the aisle where they normally sit.
I have not seen them in my local shop for a few weeks.
Anyone else have them in their local shop?1 -
Eggs going awol, same for baked beans, what in earth could be going on here then?

Another thing in Lidl. Chickpeas are in mixed cases with butter beans. Went through 12 cases of cans and ALL of them were butter beans!
Got a few cans in. Just hope that the Asian brands KTC, East End etc will be on 3 (used to be 4) for £1 in most of the supermarkets soon as its Diwali in 7 weeks time.
Also not many chopped tomatoes until I spotted the 4 pack of Simply... Chopped Tomatoes at the beginning of the tomatoes section. No saving as £1.12, same as the single cans (28p)

Morrison’s didn’t have any chopped tomatoes today, but I did get eggs .od244051 said:Another thing in Lidl. Chickpeas are in mixed cases with butter beans. Went through 12 cases of cans and ALL of them were butter beans!

Mentioned these shortages to my OH and he said maybe people are stockpiling again in case we go back into lockdown. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

I don't go to the Aldi nearest me, as the car park is awful. Yet every single time I walk or drive past it, the door is always on green. People are moaning that at some parts of the store are very crowded. Is it supposed to be like this or this store's entry system is faulty?
Having said that, I last went to Aldi end April.0 -
Went to Lidl this morning. There were eggs, chopped tomatoes and where baked beans were supposed to be, a huge gap, not a baked bean in sight. Didn't want any myself, just thought I'd look because of what duncanthedog said.1
