I tried the (Lidl) Bellarom Cafe Azura equivalent this weekend (on 1/2 price offer). I enjoyed it just as much as the Bellarom gold and at that price its pretty much equivalent.

Strange because I hated the Colombian one that is occasionally on offer, but am glad I took a punt on this. If I was in an office environment and not wfh it would be a convenient size to keep in a desk drawer.

I'm missing the Aldi packet cooking sauce mixes, not seen any for a while in the shops I use, another line gone?

The quality of the aubergines in Aldi yesterday was appalling (unusually).
Very ripe - think squishy - and one in the tray underneath had gone mouldy.
Particularly wanted one to do a Rick Stein recipe that I caught on Saturday Kitchen Best Bites.
I've put the lamb in the freezer until my next visit, I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed again.

They are probably flour weevils.    He felt sick and was disappointed with Aldi’s response of a full refund. He obviously thought he deserved compensation for his horrific ordeal.

Would've been better taking them to the Food Hygiene people, or just asking for a refund and replacement in lieu of his time spent returning them.

Some people say Lidl and Aldi fruit and veg is fine I’ve had the opposite experience I once heard a guy in front of me in Aldi say to the check out girl when she scanned his strawberries I hope they make it to the car before going off this time
Aldi's veg has been a subject on BBC watchdog on more than one occasion.
  • If there were 'hundreds' as stated in the article, he didn't see any before he opened it?

I think complaints about Aldi and Lidl fruit and veg are often exaggerated. My habit is to go to Aldi for my weekly shop and then call into Sainsburys on the way home for anything I can't get in Aldi. Recently, I've often been unable to get a decent (or any) cauliflower in Aldi. Then I go to Sainsburys and the caulis are equally poor (soft /small /spongy) but far more expensive. It must be the weather.
Like all shopping, you pay your money and take your choice. Overall, Aldi wins hands down. 😁

You're not wrong. I bought a couple of punnets of plums on offer from Asda and a week later they have yet to ripen.

They are on offer at Lidl this week and that is exactly where I shall be going to buy them. The window for seasonal summer fruits is fast closing and I intend to make the most of it.
