If there were 'hundreds' as stated in the article, he didn't see any before he opened it?

Looking at one of the photos, one magnified penne appears to be over 7" long, with the bug being about 3/4".
As penne is usually about 1.5" long, the bugs would be quite small.
I suspect 'hundreds' was probably an exaggeration.

I have seen so many on an aldi fb page I am on going on about the fruit veg quality issues.  The only one I had was the iceberg lettuce I bought on friday.  went to use it last night.  Cut in to it smelt a bitter tasted and OMG.  Tasted a tiny bit and it took at least 20 mins to get the taste out of mouth.  Mind you I have only bought 3 over the summer and the others were from a different supermarket and that was just as bad.  Guess I must just be unlucky.

I am ashamed to say that since the start of August I have bought 3 iceberg lettuce and 2 bags of salad....and they have all ended up in the bin. Despite best intentions I never fancied eating it at the time.

  • Went into Aldi last week and they had no eggs.    Lidl has none this morning and Home Bargains don’t have any either.     Is there an egg shortage ?

I know it does not help you, but went to my local Aldi on friday night and they had eggs as I bought some. Not heard of a recent egg shortage so no idea!

Had 2 rump steaks from Aldi yesterday, both cooked together for the same time.

One was tasty and tender, the other was inedible - un-cuttable, even with steak knives. I even tried with my regularly sharpened knife I use to cut raw meat up with.
It seemed to have some sort of membrane over the piece of steak and I don't think it had been butchered properly.
The grain ran diagonal compared to the good steak.

    Not sure I'll bother again.

What is the best way of obtaining a £1.50 fruit n veg box from Lidl? Been a way for a few days in the UK so only got a couple of carrots, two peppers and half a bag of onions. The boxes are back of the checkouts. Entrance and exit doors are next to each other in foyer (where flowers are).

Never had a box before so unsure of the protocol. Plus if any veg not in the box which I want, can I get them?

Tell the person on the till that you want one but not until you have checked them first.

You are lucky that your shop even has them, I have only seen the boxes in my shop twice since they started.

Its hit and miss but in truth once I bagged up and ready for the walk home the last thing I want to add to my load is another box. Its only ever going to be an afterthought for many of us as we are purposely directed to the F&V at the store entrance and the box is luck of the draw as to a) whether it exists, and b) its content.

That's where you have got me, my answer was aimed at the person asking about the boxes so unlikely that it would be an afterthought for them.
