Back from my Aldi shop and it was brilliant. They had masses of fresh fruit and veg, even their Super 6 was in abundance. No tins and very little meat though but that wasn't what I wanted.

My local Lidl has a 20% off voucher for next week. That's going to be awkward.
  • We went to Grimsby Lidl on Tuesday and there didn't  seem to be any panic buying and no empty shelves. It was busier than usual and the till people looked a bit worn out but otherwise quite normal. I didn't  need  much so I got everything I went in for. It could  be different  now I suppose.
  • It was very refreshing after seeing all the reports of empty shelves.  Also when we went into Cleethorpes (we had to change our euros back to pounds as our holiday was cancelled, we should be in Cyprus now ☹) people were shopping as normal and just enjoying the day. Btw not all 'southerners' are greedy, we moved here from Northamptonshire so are technically south of Grimsby and we aren't  greedy or loaded lol! I wish! Hope you all stay healthy and positive.

I fear that's a general thing, not limited to a specific area or demographic. It's a deeply unpleasant spectacle.

I've not been to a big supermarket recently (OH has been doing that since I had foot surgery at the beginning of the year) but yesterday I ventured out to Iceland a small freezer end-of-line store this morning.
It was quite a pleasant experience, no pushing, people not taking multiple items.
Got what I wanted - fresh veg for Sunday dinner, 2 packs of frozen fish, 2 pint of milk, dozen eggs, 1 tiger bread, pack of 4 paninis,  4 pack of kitchen towels, mushrooms for the pizza I have in the freezer for tomorrow and for the pasta tonight.
I let the elderly lady behind me go first as she just had a loaf and some eggs.
She seemed quite chirpy. I feel for people like that as they do seem to treat going shopping as a social occasion.

Aldi special buys for Thursday coming include 8 pack toilet rolls and 6 pack kitchen towels.
I wonder how long the queues will be at opening times ;)

Now there's an offer that's likely to be cancelled!
