One thing I would like Aldi to remove for the time being are the displays of food etc in the lobby area. The store which I went to this morning has an area between the outside and the shop floor with automatic doors on both sides. In the area there was some Easter things.

You cannot really stop and look at them when the guards allow three people in a time unless you are the last one in.

Yes I had a similar problem. I wanted to get some lettuce seeds in Lidl  but OH ploughed straight through both doors determined to be in and out as soon as possible. I had no choice but to hurry after him as another couple were behind me. I wish I'd waited and got them now. I'm too polite for my own good.... :(
One person to one trolley in my Lidl, couples shopping is not allowed as they block up the aisles.
I thought that rule would be nationwide.

Sadly not a rule being enforced in my local Lidl or Morrisons.
Called into both today(shopping for vulnerable parents) and too many people are treating it as a normal day out instead of shopping for essentials.

Does anyone know what happens to items that are taken off stock at Lidl and Aldi - I don't mean during the current situation, nor middle aisle stuff  but in general?  A few years ago an item was discontinued overnight, I contacted Aldi who actually rang me to my amazement and said it hadn't been that popular.  I asked if stocks were kept in a warehouse somewhere but he said there were none.  More recently at Lidl a moisturiser (in a black tube) suddenly disappeared as did lower fat evap milk.  Yet there had been plenty just the week before.  Does any insider know where it goes?  The moisturiser in particular was really good, the one they now have is also good but doesn't have sun protection.

    Thanks

I don't know where it goes, but as we are so often told it's all "just in time" ordering, not in some massive warehouse somewhere. so presumably when no longer ordered the production line closes and manufacture of it ceases, line then changes to making something else that is in demand

Yes I imagine that is what happens.  I just wondered where the leftover stock goes, one minute there's loads on the shelves, the next - gone!

Aldi have this guide up on their website, it won't be the same for every individual shop but a good thing all the same :)

And in my experience of the 3 Aldi's nearest me, the reason its quieter and quietest later in the day is because in many of their stores a lot of shelves are empty of the essentials, so fewer people shopping.

Same here. Pointless shopping if there's no stock on the shelves.  And I'm speaking pre-Coronavirus.

My local Lidl has had some frozen fish products in weird, minimalist packaging (just a string of individual portions in clear plastic, with a label at the top).    I'm assuming they are now end-of-line as they have been repeatedly reduced, but I thought I'd give the Cod Loins a go at £1.49 for 3 portions, and they are delicious.   Excellent quality, boneless, skinless and perfect for adding a herb crust.

I went to Lidl today after my walk. I thought as I was nearby I'd stock up on the cornichons and muesli that we like from there.

30 minutes queuing to get in. I'd have given up if it wasn't so pleasant standing in the sunshine. When I got inside I could see why the queue was so slow. The shop was almost empty and just 2 tills open! I'd just love to take some Lidl management to Aldi and show them how to operate checkouts. Will they never learn?
