Coincidentally, I noticed earlier that the thread title is 'good and bad buying ....'. I'd always assumed that the reason posters, like myself, had been censored for posting about the buying  in the past  was because the thread was about buys (i.e. products) rather than the shopping experience. Obviously it's not. IMO if the buying experience is poor and shoppers go elsewhere then we won't know abut the buys so customer service is very relevant.

I've just finished batch cooking a load of swede & carrot mash and a huge pot of braised red cabbage. At 29p each for the carrots and swede from Super 6 and a very good value red cabbage (Aldi still sell theirs per piece rather than by weight, such as 80p per kg in Sainsbury's) I'll get loads of portions for the freezer. 😁

I changed it (from "buys" to "buying") with MSE agreement when I was a BG to make it more accommodating to information regarding service at A & L, which I agree is a valid money-saving concern.   As you say, what good are cheap prices if the service isn't good.

I also think that A & L have service-related aspects that are fairly unique to them (like the experience of having only the least popular variant of a product left for days or weeks because all the variants share the same outer boxes).

Seems reasonable enough. Aldi and Lidl items are much the same as those from any other supermarket these days, usually from the same suppliers.

The only thing that distinguishes them is the price, and that’s almost all just down to efficiency.

Thanks Cornucopia. Obviously, I'm a bit slow and only noticed it today. 🤣

Aldi had some eggless glass noodles that I bought on request - was asked again today and they had disappeared. 3 rows of the egg ramen in their stead :(

I don't know why my post about the Lidl app was deleted/moved? The thread title of 'good and bad buying' could reasonably be inferred as good and bad buying experiences (verb).

So this message isn't deleted, I'll just add that today I bought the 1kg bag of carrots for 19p offer which I thought was a good buy.
The posts about the app have not been deleted but have been moved to the Lidl app thread here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6192826/lidl-rewards-app#latest

I tried the chilli and cheese hot X buns from Aldi.
They are really nice, I had one with a bowl of soup.
Unfortunately, they had a very short date on them, just a couple of days, not sure if they were all like that or I picked up the wrong pack.
And surprisingly, they said 'not suitable for freezing'.
But they went in the freezer anyway and tasted fine.
Well I indulged in a HCB-fest yesterday morning - was in Aldi reasonably early and found a couple of packs with the 30% off stickers bringing the 99p down to 69p. I bought the rhubarb and custard for my Mum, white chocolate and raspberry for me (both flavours tried, tested and approved in previous years), and a pack of cheese and chill for us both - an adventurous outlay of £1.98.

Tried a chill and cheese one last night and was sorely disappointed, they looked plastic-y uniform like McDonalds burger buns; the level of chill could have done with enhancement and it definitely needed a lot more cheese! I would have been better off buying 4 packs of the 6-pack of regular ones for all of 49p (down from 69p) instead as I know what I'm getting....and they would have gone into the freezer.

I shall try not to let this ruin my Easter :D

Some good garden items online at Aldi this morning again.  On sale instore next Sunday.

Queue of around 10,000 people at 0530, half hour's wait to get into the site. Became available at 0800. Sold out not long after. 250,000 people waiting to get on at 8!

I never wait in that queue to get on the Aldi site, if I don't get on straight away, I go elsewhere.
If it's sold out online and I still want it, I will take my chances in the store.

Perfectly reasonable post, and I agree. A small number of people seem to think they own the thread though and get upset if anyone posts anything they consider off topic, even if it isn’t.
Agreed, and moving the post without at the same time posting what's been done on here, with a link to the other thread, is unhelpful to say the least!
