Good and Bad Buying at Lidl and Aldi (***Please don't expire***)

Lidl have their own Nakd bars under Alseto brand. They have cacao/orange, Bakewell tart and another one. Pack of five bars for £1.99. They were near to the snacking nuts.1

Overall, I find the Aldi selection of Muesli bars (and similar) to be much larger and more interesting than Lidl's. I suspect it's marginally cheaper, too.
In no particular order, some of the bars Aldi has that have no Lidl equivalent are: Munch Bars (like Cabdbury's Brunch bars), Fibre Now (like Fibre One), Popcorn Bars (not seen these anywhere else), Benefit Bars (like Special K bars).0 -
Checked online for the other supermarkets and the jars are all 12g.LindsayT said:Getting back to oregano that someone posted about. I looked at them in Lidl this morning out of curiosity. They were 7.5 grams for 35p. I suspect the weight may have been higher in the past and they have kept the same size jars, as they were literally half full.0 -
The Manager in my local ALDI told me this morning that as from Monday 5th April the daily 30 minute early opening for over 70s and vulnerable people in ALL Aldi stores will cease to be, back to normal store times for all. It's been a godsend for me but I'm sad to see it go although not really surprised because it does put extra pressure on the staff to get the store reasonably clear by then.0

Have Aldi scrapped all the signs that say if the queue gets to this point we will put another till on?
I've not seen any in ours and the queues are very long now.0 -
I don't remember signs but the long queues became a feature of my Aldi from January onwards. It just happened overnight as if they'd cut back on staff. I asked in store but wasn't given a plausible explanation. What worried me was the queues down the aisles meant you had to dodge between people to reach the shelves making social distancing impossible.Deleted_User said:Have Aldi scrapped all the signs that say if the queue gets to this point we will put another till on?

I contacted Customer Services. The written response was bland but, in recent weeks, they are opening more checkouts. Today was absolutely fine. I'm not saying it's a direct result of my complaint but I'm glad I did. Reasons given in store were staff off with Covid, changed customer shopping habits making it difficult to know when they'd be busy and even that I'd chosen to shop when they were changing over shifts. I knew my habits/timing hadn't changed and they'd coped with Covid for 9 months before this happened.
I went to Aldi today. Great buys in the Super 6 including swede, carrots & parsnips and a red cabbage the size of a football for 45p. 😋0 -
Aldi "Plant Menu" vegan frozen ready meals:-
- Chickpea Tikka Masala - Chickpeas and fake chicken pieces in a spicy curry sauce with plain brown rice. Nice, although it's a pity that it's so much more expensive than the Chicken Tikka Masala.
- Jackfruit Thai Green Curry - Jackfruit and other veg in a creamy green Thai curry sauce with brown and wild rice. Very tasty with good spice and lemongrass flavours.
Both 400g for £1.79. (In a single compartment cardboard tray).2 -
I don't know why my post about the Lidl app was deleted/moved? The thread title of 'good and bad buying' could reasonably be inferred as good and bad buying experiences (verb).
So this message isn't deleted, I'll just add that today I bought the 1kg bag of carrots for 19p offer which I thought was a good buy.3 -
Perfectly reasonable post, and I agree. A small number of people seem to think they own the thread though and get upset if anyone posts anything they consider off topic, even if it isn’t.S_uk said:I don't know why my post about the Lidl app was deleted?
