  • I am not the usual smart mobile user. I text and phone seldom and work on a pay as you go tariff as I spend no more than £30 a year and that was fine for me until now. It had not occurred to me that downloading the app and using my phone to activate rewards or money off would cost me dear. I discovered that having the app connected as I shopped meant I was paying 8p a minute and then I had run out of credit and that when I tried to open the app before going to shop that I could not connect though could open up my card. It was only when at home on our own wifi that I could open it up and discover I had used up all my credit. I topped up £10 and thought no more about it, however over 3 days I had used up almost £4 of credit just having my phone connected when in Lidls. Plus add insult to injury I had hit my target for  the £10 voucher having spent £200 in the last month but over the last week not being able to access this whilst at Lidls because I had not worked out what the problem was till yesterday My voucher has run out ! I have now set up a monthly tariff so that this does not happen again and gives me more data. I feel rather hard done by as obviously this scheme is very relevant for the usual mob. user but penalises those 50+ who are not as connected and familiar with all this technology.I feel more people should be made aware of this a

    So we're you on PAYG?
If so, you really shouldn't have data usage turned on & only use via WiFi connection.
You don't even need data to use in lidl as the QR code will still open when not connected.  Even then could just take a screenshot & scan that.

Mind when I was using it with one of the 10% off coupons, the girl on the checkout was equally non clued up & not understanding that the voucher had already been activated & I didn't need to be connected to get the money off

At the beginning you needed a data connection in order to get the QR code. They have changed that since. It's working now offline too. What I did is, I took a screenshot of the Lidl Plus Card and also put it into an app called Stocard, where I also have my other store cards and gift cards saved. I never had problems either using the screenshot or the QR code from Stocard at Lidl. Just don't forget to activate the vouchers when you're at home on wifi.
  • Has anyone's Lidl Plus App failed?
on the 23 Oct I bought £68.70 worth of shopping -  having already got £150 shopping this month, that took me over the £200 (to get the £10 voucher)
I also applied a voucher to get a discount off a multi pack of Nixe Tuna - this is recorded on the printed receipt.
However the £68.70 has not registered on the app. When you you call Lidl's help number 0800 977 7766 - you get dumped off line as there is no one to deal with you. If you press to talk to the robotic App assistant it provides no options to register the complaint.
Has any one else had problems with the App refusing to issue vouchers?

BTW - KEEP your receipts. With out this receipt I would have no way of proving the app had scanned.

Did anybody get the £2 voucher for spending £100 in November yet? In the past I got the voucher as soon as I reached £100 and another £10 when reaching £200.

I've signed up for the Lidl App and I must say I'm quite pleased. Today I used a 15% off pizza voucher and every time you shop you get a scratch card., although I've only "won" 25p off so far. It's not going to change the world but it does save a few pence here and there, and makes shopping a bit more interesting. I only wish they did a 15% off their single malt scotch whiskeys.

The app presumably makes this more expensive for the rest of us.

    Scotch whisky or Irish whiskey?

Can I use the Lidl app on a tablet that has no internet connection of its own?

I can connect through my PC at home but the tablet is a stand alone device with no sim card.
