Afternoon all,
I hope everyone is having a good day and that the sun is shining, even a little.
Well today started off great with me out the door early walking the dogs after dropping DSs at further away bus stop (being bullied at their usual busstop ). Then bumped into a neighbour/friend and had a long chat that was lovely but put me behind. Oh well, it was nice to catch up.
I have/will today:
Check online banking - DONE
Check AMEX bill due - DONE - nice & small compared to December's horrendously big bill (xmas spends/presents!)
Check Spreadsheet - DONE - see exactly where all non-essentials are coming from and try and reduce
Walk dogs - DONE
Washing x 2 - DONE
Tumbled x 2 - DONE (too much to hang up on airers)
Decide on DS1s travel to Uni interview next month - so far away Leeds from here in South West but expensive for train, coach takes forever (9.5 hours & no suitable travel times to match interview time), so will have to be train
Hoover up and downstairs
Cleaning/dusting
Tray bake & cake
All meals from stores
Some OU studies
Make up bed in DS2 for friend staying over.
Stop procrastinating on MSE!
Have a lovely weekend.

As you can tell this is going to take a little while for both of us to agreeBB, we paid off our mortgage early - little bits, big bits, whatever we could afford. No regrets - it meant we could both afford a frugal semi retirement at 60, and none of us knows how long we have, do we? The only proviso we came across was to ensure that overpayments are within what is allowed by the mortgage company.
Thanks DawnW I know what our annual limit is, but I am not sure if we need to pay this as a lump sum, I'm also aware of a monthly limit, not sure how they work as the monthly limit is across all account holders, where as the annual limit is 10% of the original mortgage. As we can get overpayments back or use them to give us a mortgage payment holiday, we are considering finding a years worth of mortgage payments and using this as to overpay.
OH works better with targets, it is just a case of setting a realistic one, that is possible but not ridiculously small.
We were mortgage free when we first moved here, but we decided to do a major renovation project, we always knew we would need to borrow and I am glad we did it but I so wish the mortgage would disapear.
To reduce our first mortgage we would overpay monthly and when we got to the end of the fixed term we would overpay a lump sum and reduce the term and get a new deal, oh those were the days :rotfl:Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Phew - that felt like a mission today. Got it all done though. There was a burglary near ours last night so I decided to take some cash to the bank that was in the house. We don't normally keep cash in the house but MIL was paying me back for the flights for our holiday (I'm the only one with a ccard).
Going to have a tidy round now and then sit and crochet.
In another win, I popped some washing out to dry and saw a robin, a little brown bird (poss a female blackbird?) and two tits (possibly long tailed tits) on the new feeder

Aww, bless you for your interest. My current status in my signature but I'm not sure if it's visible on all browser platforms.
To achieve 500 miles I need to do 42 miles per month.
In January so far I've done [STRIKE]39.23[/STRIKE] 39.85 miles out of 42 needed so I should be able to manage January's quota.
I actually got the idea from Ziggy who suggested it.
Thanks for the update, generally I read/post on my phone and signatures are not visible. I will need to use the computer occasionally to see updates.
You are doing well and I am cheering you on from the sidelines, one day I might do my own challenge.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

It can sometimes be cheaper to go via London if you can get two bargain advance tickets.LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Didn’t call the man about the oven or sort a box but I did do everything else and a bit more. Found lots of barginous things at a SM. Bought lots for specific gifts and some for present box too. Also treated myself to some reduced scissors. Living the dream :rotfl:
Need to shuffle money about, used some points against some of the gifts too to make them all the more barginous:D0 -
Quick check in from a very tired CCL who still isn't properly better and is working in London for the second time this week. Goodness knows what is going on with my finances or anything else really - between being poorly and all this extra work that's going on I barely even know what day of the week it is. I'm just about to go to bed - before 9pm and everything.
Another day working tomorrow then head home - my mam is staying with the kids so I know that they are ok (and the cats are fed), which is a huge worry off my mind
Hopefully I'll be awake enough to sit down and go through everything financially and sort out a plan of action after tomorrow.
Not giving up

Time to take back control

Ah I see...I am a bit hooked on challenges, but I don't like to compare my pace with others. Elves don't stand a chance in that respect.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Hi January Joy-Seekers,
Morning!:coffee: Lots of time to fill. DW has received a £5 voucher from Morrison's More Points.
Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Four:
* Check online banking. Done.
* Continue my Challenge 500 miles challenge to travel 500 miles for free before the end of 2019: walking, hiking, climbing, cycling, running and swimming. Will go to P.a.r.k.R.u.n. this morning. It's free! (Link) Though I may walk rather than run today. This will mean I've done nearly 43 miles. I need to do 42 miles in January so I will have a few miles 'in hand' by the end of the month. Done.
* Consume some homemade goats' cheese. Done.
* Follow ice hockey match online for free tonight. In progress.
* Read meters. Done. We have a quarterly bill due. Will need to add £8 to the fund to cover our usage. But pleased with the cost as it's been Arctic up here this Winter.
* Find 'lost' waterproof trousers. Done.
* Do the Big Garden Birdwatch which is running until 28th Jan. It's free. It's also pouring with rain. Hmmm. (Link) Done.
* Price a dehumidifier.
* Try to find momentum to tidy out our storage cupboard. DW has been in there. Not today.
* Order a new windscreen wiper on eBay. Only bought one a fortnight ago, now another has bust.Done.
* Check loyalty points. Should get £2 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers very soon.
* Deep clean Thermos flask with not-Milton tablets to prolongue it's life. Done.
