    Morning folks!

    Happy belated birthday to Ally

A very bright and frosty one here, with a layer of snowy ice on the ground. It was very beautiful walking to work with the sunrise one side and the moon on the other.

OH's crochet gloves are going well. I have exactly enough yarn in a left over colour to finish the first section of each glove so I was very pleased. All in puff stitches though which I find hard going on the hands.

    Today's mission:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • No alcohol - def can't as have taken my medication... was over 4 hours ago... just a small glass
    • Gym at lunchtime - good session again. I'm feeling it this week :)
    • Potentially introduce work friend to gym - I get a month's free membership if she joins. - done
    • Charge phone in work - good
    • Heating off all day as we're out - done. Still off
    • Crochet gloves
    • Refill my ipod shuffle with new tunes - in progress
    • Submitted meter readings - done
    Have a good one all

    Afternoon all,

Hoping Foxgloves news wasn't bad yesterday.

In the way of small things
    * both kids had ys bread for toast again
    * both kids went on the school buses as I wasn't going to the gym which is nr their schools
    * dh working from home as he had a drs appointment that hes been putting off since August and he was in and out in less then 4 minutes (he's got another appointment for tomorrow with the nurse and want to try and book him in to see the dr as well in the morning as he's had a letter asking him to go in after his bloods last week - if he can't get in tomorrow it'll have to be next week...which knowing him he'd put off and off and off  )
    * popped into aldee and bought just what was on the list

be back in a bit got to go and collect ds2 from the bus stop

sorry its not letting me edit my post for some reason so..
    * BLD all from home, fried egg sandwiches for brunch, dinner will be stew and dumplings which I put in the slow cooker this morning as I knew we'd all be tired tonight

    Still need to
** check banking/update spreadsheet and email back to myself
** make families lunches for tomorrow
** cancel gym session for thur/friday so that we can hopefully get the other house sorted by Friday
** write a letter to dss teacher to remind them I'm collecting for hospital tomorrow early
** dig out blood forms for ds and other appointment letter otherwise I'll not get in the free car park tomorrow

Thats all I can think of for now, but I'm not sleeping well at the minute and I'm physically tired too so I'm feeling a bit befuddled as my nan would have said.

    Take care all.

  • Hello :hello:
Apologies for my absence so far this week - I am still poorly, plus now in exam season as well so busy with travelling to meetings and marking. I will try and check in every couple of days though, just to keep the faith.
Belated Happy Birthday Ally, and Foxgloves I am hoping that no news is good news (fingers crossed). Welcome to newbies, and HK, can I just echo what others have said about your positivity - I find you very inspiring.
Thanks for Cowboy Pie idea CLF. I like the sound of it a lot and am definitely going to try it.
Not much to report - I have no money to spend so nothing going on there. Most of my spends this week are expenses related to exams that I can claim back so that's good news. Just trying to keep the faith, and keep going with the small things.
  • Where are the puddles? I think that freezers have a overflow tray thing for condensation. If it's blocked it could be overflowing?

This link explains what I mean better :)

Ooh, that looks like it is probably it! The puddle appears every couple of days at the front of the freezer, but it may be coming from underneath. The bottom drawer is frozen shut, which is why I thought it might be defrosting intermittently. Once it's empty I can defrost and have a good look inside for the drain hole. Thanks!! :j:j

Evening all. Not much happening here today. A NSD for me, I'm really getting into the habit of sorting my lunch out for work, so feeling rather proud.

Raised a claim with Quidco for a missing transaction - fingers crossed.

Found a voucher for 100 Tesco points with any purchase so used it with a pint of milk :D

CC payments are due so I'm hoping to jiggle things around tonigh and pay one off completely this month. Although, the car MOT is due so I need to check we'll have enough in the kitty to pay for any repairs first.

I've got a Welsh exam next week and am going to hibernate for the next few evenings and revise like mad - should keep me out of trouble!

I was supposed to be at a knit & natter tonight, but worked late and am not feeling it. I should be going for a swim but can't seem to get myself off the chair. Which isn't really very money saving as my membership is paid for...:p But at least it saves petrol....:p

Moneywise will be a bit tight next month as hubby did reduced hours in December/January, so really need to knuckle down with the little DFW things.

Gas usage has been up, so trying to keep the heating off as much as possible but it's sooooo cold....!

I'm wondering whether to apply for a job which I really fancy and tick the person spec for. Trouble is, DH wants to apply for it as well. I'm on a permanent contract, he isn't, so it makes sense for him. But I'm bored in my job and this looks interesting, but going in an interview against him would be, well, weird. Moral dilemma.....

Anyway, the computer now sits in the Room of Doom, still minus any heating and my hands are like ice. Time to retreat! Have a good evening!!
  • ccl and CTWD - glad to be of help :)

Well I have had a real one off scenario tonight! I have been with EE on a data plan for years, and in Dec I noted that the direct debit hadn't come out (thank goodness I check everything off!). I decided that it might be a Christmas thing as the DD usually comes out around the 28th. I thought i'd wait and see what happened this month and then call if it wasn't right.

Tonight I came home to a letter from EE's collections department! Apparently they had tried to contact me numerous times?? Rang straight away to sort it all out.

Turns out, someone had wrongly credited my account with a month's credit, so the DD was for a £0 amount. Then the mistake had been discovered and the credit removed but after the DD date. Lady at EE's end absolutely lovely and gave me £5 credit as an apology.

So my Jan bill is for double the amount. Thank goodness for the fact that I check everything out of my account and I knew to keep the money aside. Good money lesson for anyone who doesn't tick transactions off! :money:
