    Morning all :)
Not quite so cold today, but I still feel like hibernating :(
    Today looks like this:
HG cooked fruit for breakfast instead of bought fresh fruit Done
Quick tidy round needed, dog seems to have chewed something up all over the rug, for a start! Done
Put some sales stuff away Done
    RM surveys tasks To do
Dental hygienist this afternoon, so not a NSD. Different town, so might take the opportunity to look for a few more shopping items on my list. Done, just the dentist to look forward to on Monday now :(
Must make an appointment to get my hair cut, as it is driving me mad  Done, will be tomorrow morning :)

Also ring car insurance company about car windscreen that needs replacing :(Done, they will do it on Monday afternoon. Had to pay the insurance excess plus replacement wiper blades, but would have cost many times this amount if not covered by insurance
All food/ coffee etc from home Done
    Better get on!

    Morning Icicles,
Thanks for all the good wishes. Unfortunately, there has been no job news as it has been delayed. Stressful & infuriating for all involved. Naturally the tier of people doing the delaying are all secure in their own jobs, of course.
Very cold here today, a day which managed to start off being both icy & rainy. I'd have thought all the rain would have melted the ice, but no, people were still needing to scrape their cars. A few frugal activities today:
*Tamale pie to make for tonight's meal - a good use-it-up opportunity, as recipe only requires 100g mince, which I had leftover in the freezer, plus a container of leftover kidney beans & a pepper from the bargainaceous pepper bowl I bought the other week. Might have half a tin of tomatoes knocking about in there too, if I explore right to the back. Need space anyway, as have a fish delivery arriving on Monday.
*Triage of fridge for a salad - reckon some tomatoes in there are older than others, so will sort through, as I can't bear any food waste.
*Cleaned whole house using minimal products & washable microfibre cloths.
*Made up another batch of diluted multi-purpose cleaner for my recycled spray bottle. Tried a supermarket basics version, but it isn't as good as 'Stardrops' so will revert to that once this has all been used up.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch - snacks & crisps sorted, just need to add a sandwich.
*Wrap birthday gifts - will be using recycled wrappings from my stash & home made tags.
*Wrote 2 birthday cards from my stash.
*Do next week's meal plans - have made a start on this. We are over budget by £23 this month, so we have both agreed prioritising meals from the freezer is the best idea this time.We have plenty in.
*Cast on 2nd hiking sock as finished first one last night.
*Read my charity shop novel - really getting into it now - 'Crow Girl' - Ziggy, you asked me if it was any good. Yes! I like a good detailed crime plot to try & figure out. And it's a nice thick book.
*Sort out all vegetable seed packets from my seed box. I usually sow the first ones on the last couple of days of January, so could do with seeing what I have in stock, & can then make a list of what we need to buy. Have already discussed with mr f if there's anything he particularly fancies growing & eating this year - he's in charge of potatoes!
*Leave downstairs heating off for as long as possible. I'm fine while I'm busy moving around, but shall need to tuck up with a hot water bottle & snuggly rug if I'm sitting for any length of time.
*Use it up avocado, quinoa, walnuts & other odds & sods for my lunch.
*Continue using up herbal tea bags that I don't much like, rather than waste them.
    *Update my DFW diary.
    Cheers all - stay warm!

    Afternoon folks

Foxgloves - how frustrating and stressful :(

A cold wet day here but at least all the ice has gone. It's my Saturday and we had a slow start to the day. Actually got a quick cuddle and a coffee in bed before having to get up as the gas man was here to do the safety check.

We are both working on creative projects today. OH is learning his new recording software (bought with his half of the Christmas money). I have been finishing his new gloves (just done and ready for him to try on when he gets back from the gym).

I am currently debating on some yarny purchases with my half of the Christmas money... I have some particular makes in mind that I need specific yarn for. However, i am aware that yarn is accumulating quicker than I am using it. It's not really my fault honest! (:p) The yarn is gifts and left overs - I actually don't buy yarn without a specific project in mind!

    Today's mission:
    • B/L from stores - done
    • Dinner not mse as we are going out for Sushi but this is budgeted and planned and we've been looking forward to it (instead of going out for dinner "just because" - a nasty habit of ours which we are trying to break) - done
    • Heating on low - done
    • OH to learn software so he can write a Christmas masterpiece - ongoing!
    • Washing on 30 deg - done
    • Washing on rads as on anyway - done
    • Sort through yarn boxes - done
    • Take mismatched slippers back to Sainsbury's as it's near Sushi place. - done
    • Paid early (they pay Dec early and Jan's slightly early to stagger it back to normal) but moved straight out of account until proper pay day next week :A - done
    • Post seeds
    • Tried on a top that needs altering. It's now even tighter due to growth in my lats!! (unsurprising as I've gone up 2 bra back sizes in the last year) It still suits me though so I def want to do this. - done
    Have a good one all

  • Afternoon all,

Yay - an NSD today for me, but DH got some supplies in (from list and using vouchers so not too bad).

It's finally warmed up, so heating has been off all day.

Lunch to work, and homemade latte taken in for the morning commute (only walking, but still.. :-) )

Most of the dinner from stores, but with a cheeky portion of chippy chips on the side as I have no potatoes. :o

Hope everyone who is feeling poorly is getting, well, a little less poorly!
  • Clf, I have this image of you and the gas man now...
  • Evening all :hello: late check in for me as another busy day, although I was working from home so it could be worse.

I need to watch that video on sheet folding, but my top bedding tip is to take a pilllow case and put everything inside you need to make the bed (1 duvet cover, 1 sheet and x pillow cases) you. If done neatly, even with super king, it can fit in half the pillowcase, then fold it over and they stack nicely. Thus taking up less space and b) you can just grab and go :A

    My things today:
    Change 2 beds
One load of washing and one on for overnight
    Leftovers for lunch
Rounding up things for lunchboxes tomorrow, last of some hm cake and some leftover rice pudding
A bid on something else on fleabay x 2
Put some dates in my diary
Juggled my work diary for one day in a month or so, so I don't need childcare
Left over Christmas salmon turned into pasta dish for tea
Some defrosted left over mozzarella and hm pizza dough made into smalls tea
    Updated freezer inventory
    Check banking
Out for a walk this evening, really trying to up my walking, especially on days when I'm in front of my pc so much for walk. I'm really enjoying it and just a short 20 minute walk makes a difference on the step count for the day
Write a list of things to achieve over the next week.

    Enjoy your evening everyone. Purps.

  • Morning :D whoop day 2 of 8 off :j yesterday was a very slow day as I needed to unwind and relax after the mammoth stint of shifts. Feel a lot better for it. Today I have the hygienist  prepaid so no cost...

    * payday so have done money shuffle :money:

    * will have a wander round the cs shops as it's whitstable and they tend to get good stuff :money:
    * continue sorting out house - all my good efforts went down the pan when I was working every day for 12 hours!
    * fold sheets ala purps :p
    * get madam's bag & clothes ready for swimming first thing tomorrow
    * finally get my sewing machine out :j

  • Morning all!
Sorting my laundry ala purps & ll is definitely on my weekend list too DNMS. Think that would work well for me! But might reveal some bedding is lost between different houses post Xmas!
Today, properly human, just the trace of a cough left when I catch my breath and a slight headache that I think some painkillers will see off. After last fortnight that’s good going!
On the bus to work today. £4 return. By dint of being ill and not leaving the house much this week my travel expenses come to a total of 13.50. Better than a car sat on the drive! Have been sufficiently socially isolated recently to enjoy the conversation with strangers or people you half know. Usually it’s a bit much!
BLD from stores, cuppa from home in travel mug to improve journey!
Working from a different office to usual but have remembered tea, milk etc.
Going to try to remember to charge phones and laptop at work before I go home, ala clf. Failed at that yesterday!
Book next week / next months travel, to home as well as work life!
Print out job application stuff at work.
Have blitzed last of the sage l/o from Xmas and going a bit crackly in fridge into some olive oil. Saw a suggestion from Jack Monroe on Facebook and it resonated!
Night out with friends at W/e has morphed to a night in at home. Have added a few ingredients to online shop to continue using up/trying new recipes. All good storecupboard stuff.
In scruffs to work today as got a site visit :) this definitely means less washing this weekend and sped up getting ready!
Think that’s about it today. Was pleased to get expenses in yesterday and keep on top of it so far this year!
