(I wish I could say I was fluent in Welsh, but I'm not:D! DD first language is Welsh, has come in very handy:))
CCL thank u for ur kind words but has to be much admiration right back at u for everything u have/going thru

I haven't got as many fitted sheets as quilt covers, I put the pillow cases tucked inside the quilt covers but with my fitted folding sheet addiction, it's the first time I've had so many in the airing cupboard:cool:. Plan is tomorrow to have a further tidy and pinch Purps idea.......which will come in very handy for when DD is home and always asking where a sheet is:rotfl::rotfl:

Not posted so much this week as not really been doing much, just taking it easy and resting up-which I hate:(
Dealt with some paperwork, but def a couple of frogs outstanding
Kept an eye on banking all week, everything good and the last of d.debits went out
    RM surveys have been done
Very little monies spent. Had to stock up on cat food tins. Bought at the new price-50p extra on each pack now:mad: but still the cheapest in Tesc@s
Paid yesterday so monies sorted, really pleased as budget working well
Have been eating from the freezer-the extra meals tucked in the freezer over Christmas have come in very handy.

I'm even down on my de cluttering mission but still plodding away..

Have a great day everyone xx

    Morning all :)
Went to bed early last night with a hot water bottle as I felt poorly. Seem to be ok this morning though!
    Today looks like this:
HG cooked fruit from freezer for breakfast instead of bought fresh fruit
Folded and put away throw / bed cover which was drying on the airer - usually try to wash things like that in the summer, but the kids were playing on the spare bed the other day and made it grubby. Come to think of it why do I even have a white bed cover? I can't remember where it came from, and I am about as far removed from a 'white bed cover person' as it is possible to get :rotfl: It can go in the CS bag now it is washed, and I will use one of my nice knitted patchwork ones instead! Not knitted by me, I hasten to add - CS finds!

DD and kids will appear at some stage
Need to fill and bake quiche shell I blind baked yesterday, using up some bendy veg and past-its-date-but-still-ok cream :)
Dog will need a walk, but no point trying while it is raining
No plans for spending today unless GD asks for a 'magazine' from the corner shop :rotfl:
Will spend a bit of time going through my clothes, as I seem to have to go through a lot of things I never wear to find something I do want to wear :o
More coffee and time to tidy the kitchen I think!
  • Morning all :hello:

Just keep swimming cat it'll be worth it end. Dawn hope you feel ok today. I had a late night last night as I baby sat to help out a friend. Couldn't sleep when I got hope so it was nearly 2 by the time I got to sleep. Trying to be productive today, particularly as smalls only have half their usual activities. We may go out somewhere and use our membership later. Other things:
    Washing, radiator juggle
    Make some cakes
    Portion mince bought at wholesalers
    Meals from stores
Film and popcorn with smalls tonight
DH and I both do some exercise
    Vacuum through
    Put new pillow protectors on
Take snacks when we go out

Have a great day everyone. Purps.

(I wish I could say I was fluent in Welsh, but I'm not:D! DD first language is Welsh, has come in very handy:))

Bore da Happy Kitties and 1LL - I didn't know you were Welsh! :hello: I doubt I will ever be fluent in Welsh, but I'll keep plodding along. I can understand much more than I can actually say. I find if someone speaks to me in Welsh, I tend to understand but reply in English so I've got a long way to go. We are in a very English-speaking area, so there isn't much opportunity to practice in real-life, but I was in Llandeilo yesterday and it was great to hear it spoken on the streets.

I did a practice exam yesterday - the real thing next week.

Anyway, today is a very lazy as its wet and windy outside and I'm feeling a bit under the weather. DS1 is at a free library computer club with DH and I'm just pottering around deciding what to do. I think its going to be a tidy-up day with possibly a snuggle-up film this afternoon. First I'm going to make a list with my new pen. :-D

I did a new step class yesterday while DS2 was at swimming - all covered under my work membership. I was extremely uncoordinated but enjoyed it so it will be my new 'free' Friday evening out - I know how to live! :rotfl:

So for the rest of the day:

    Washing on airer
It's quite mild so heating is off and jumpers on
Free DVD from library for afternoon film
Check CC payments have gone through. DH made some unexpeced sales so one CC was paid off in full before the interest starting being charged A huge weight off my mind
Sort the 'get rid' pile into CS and recycling and take to the tip tomorrow
Triage fridge/freezer as I didn't manage it earlier and make meal plan
List a couple of bits on Ebay
Do a bit more crochet - a Mario themed scarf for DS2 and DS3. Shamelessly copied from a Pintrest picture and working it out as I go along as there's no pattern.
Make some h/m bread for Saturday night tea - a special treat to use up old bits of cheese/jam etc that are lurking around.
Use up old veg for soup for lunch tomorrow.
Our local bus is free at weekends, so I might take a trip with DS1 over to nanny's house later instead of driving.

That's all folks. Have a lovely day!

It can sometimes be cheaper to go via London if you can get two bargain advance tickets.

Thanks CLF - I will look into that - ALAS, even more expensive! :(

    Today, I have/will:

    Put washing on
Decide how to dry washing as heating off at mo & have used tumble dryer way too much lately ??? Wild wet & windy outside today!
    BLD from stores
I made scrumptious rhubarb & apple tray bake yesterday - yum. :)
Tried to cut home expenses with Gas & Elec - got no further, Virg*n M*dia - wouldnt budge, put student discount request into Council Tax - fingers crossed, will apply to remortgage across from S*ntdr to F*rst D to get cheaper rate in the next week - can use the savings of cheaper rate to pay off debts quicker :o

Heating off - but house is cold and so am I - more layers!
Drive sensibly when collecting DS2 & friend and dropping home.
Cook liver (from freezer) for dogs' dinner - they will love it.
Increase D/D to CC1 to pay off quicker - DONE

Oh, really chuffed - had a 50p off frozen pizza voucher from Co-*p. Pizza was £1.20, used NUS card - 12p, used 50p voucher, then used Co-*p rewards of 58p - so a free pizza in the freezer for dinner for kids one night - yeah.
Put a couple things on local FB market place - desparately trying to think of ways to make extra cash.

OU studies - not done enough this week and very behind :(

I hope everyone has a good day and manages to stay warm and be kind to yourselves. x
    Jan GC £267.47/280, Fuel:£40.60/£40; Cafes: £28.35!!/£20, NSD: ?/20

    Aftetnoon all,

Chasingthewelshdream, good luck with the exam this week. I'm not Welsh but my hubby and I moved to Wales about 15 yrs ago and we now have 2 kids in Welsh Medium schools, I've learnt the odd bit from them, thats all. I love listening to them talking Welsh to each other.
NewlyFrugal, I love a freebie! I bet the pizza will taste even nicer because its free too!
Dawn & CCL, hope you're feeling better soon
PF, hope you sleep better tonight.
Hk, glad to hear you've been taking it easy, I know you don't like it but sometimes you need to.
    :waves: to all

Not much happening here this weekend, kids are a bit under the weather and we're all feeling exhausted.
    In the way small things
    * went to aldeee with list and stuck to it, (actually 2 lists as I got my parents shopping as well to save them a trip)
    * extended family round for lunch instead of tomorrow, so I served up the hm veg soup (it wasn't a nice colour and wasn't very appealing but tasted ok) had this with warmed rolls followed by lasgne, peas and sweetcorn. Won't need much to eat later as we're all full
    * made sure all the sockets were off
    * ran the dishwasher on the quick wash
    * going to watch a film on n0wtv with the kids later with some nibbles we have in the cupboard ready for movie nights
    * talked through calenders with family as we have more shared lifts/pick ups this week
    * cooked 2 chickens at the same time (oven was on so may as well have plenty in there) and will share the meat out between us and my parents. Lots of chicken based meals again this week.

Thats about it, I'm so tired I just want to snooze now!

    Take care all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

    Today is a pottering day.

OH has lit the stove, despite the living room being warm and it being milder than yesterday. It is lovely, 5 of us are in here each doing our own thing, ds is upstairs on the computer, using Skype to coordinate manoeuvres with friends.

OH has given dd a master class in how to make bread this morning, she has done everything he has just given little demos to illustrate and she has done all the work, it looks and smells lovely.

Currently, both the dw and wm are on which makes me feel as I am being very productive despite sitting here on my phone. Both machines were on overnight, but plenty more needs doing, including dd's quilt where cocoa was accidentally spilt on it yesterday afternoon by my nieces.

We have decided to swap the meal plan for today and tomorrow as that will work better.

I have reduced the number of lessons the children have today as I want to concentrate on doing some planning for the next few months work. Ds has been getting sloppy over the last year in his grammar, punctuation and letter formation, I am planning a 20 week programme to sort this out. I would also like him to learn to touch type so I am thinking of introducing this at the same time.

    Today's list:
    NSD
    PAD
Put kettles on top of the lit stove for free hot water
    Stick to meal plan
    All meals from store
    HE children for free
Turn off lights and appliances, not in use
Open curtains fully to make the most of the natural light
Close curtains before it gets dark
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

    One
     income, home educating family
  • Absolutely cream crackered here.

    Made banana and egg pancakes
    meatball pasta sauce
    Veggie haggis
    Burrito filling
    Apple sponge
    Pizza dough
    Bread
    Cut up all the veg

    Tidied
    OH did housework
    2 washes
    Oodles of washing up

Just relaxing with a cuppa before friends come for dinner. We're having a late Burns night

  • Wow, that sounds productive CLF! Enjoy your night. And all sounds very snug over at BBs today. I think touch typing is a pretty important skill these days, am shocked at how it isn’t considered worth investing time in for folk in many public sector orgs!
A spendy day today, got a treatment done but luckily had made the same amount in cash from a sale so it sort of balanced out! Made me feel more like myself but was wiped out by that and dinner with my folks. Clearly not quite right yet!
BLD from stores, continued use it up mission with some pleasant results this time!
Fixed some broken things around the house and purchased a part for one of the looming frogs.
    No heating but hwb.
Have been looking into travel plans for next few months to try to coordinate a little better.
TT a small amount to cc and set up a chunky DD for payday next week to the higher interest card. Fingers crossed for landing a 0% deal soon!

    Morning all!

Feeling very groggy here. Not too late a night, but later than I'm used to. Plus have been very sore the last few days (nothing to worry about). I'm in work today but going to try and centre myself a bit.

    Today's things:
    • B/L/D from stores - done
    • Bulk powders order. There is 40% off and I get things for my colleagues to make the order big enough for free shipping - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • No alcohol - done
    • Reconcile budget sheet - done
    • Relaxing evening with OH - done
    Have a good one all
