Hello everyone :hello:
My painful leg woke me up and my husband couldn't sleep either so we have come downstairs. I am pootling around on MSE and he is making himself some fried eggs on toast. They smell really nice but I am resisting.
I have had a rubbish weekend eating all sorts of things that are not good for me. I came to the realisation that I am seriously neglecting myself in all sorts of ways. I am ashamed to say that I haven't washed my hair in over a week, haven't had a wash for nearly as long and haven't been taking my water tablets or diabetes meds and I don't really know why. I do know that I don't want this to continue so I am committing to change my ways.
I am still afraid to get in the shower after a long while of strip washes so I will continue to wash myself in the sink rather than get so stressed out I feel ill. I am worried about falling and not being able to get myself up which is a reasonable fear. I can wash my hair in the kitchen sink this morning, I just need to be organised with towels and clean clothes for after. And as for my meds, I will test my BS and that will show me how much I need to take my tablets and injection. I have been burying my head in the sand and it needs to stop.
I think I will change my meals as well in that I will try and have my main meal at lunch time instead of in the evening. I quite often don't fancy the food in the evening as I am tired so I will be happy to just have a sandwich or soup. It will mean a bit more planning but I have little to do of a daytime so I have the time.
My meals today are:
b - rice krispies, milk and a banana
l - jacket potato, cottage cheese and salad
d - leek and potato soup
s - grapes and an apple
I have logged my meals into the calorie counter app and I still have a few to play with if I feel hungry. I hope this determination continues once I start my day properly after a couple more hours sleep. Thank you for getting this far, I think I have waffled on for enough today :rotfl:.0 -
Just popping in briefly to report a loss of 1 lb for this week. Not as much as I'd hoped for, but heading in the right direction I guess...0

Good morning all,
You and me both with the unhealthy choices dumpling however I had a good long chat with my bestie last night and we've agreed no sweets, sugary things or junk food this week. He's trying to lose weight as well and I tend to do better if I think we're in it together. We were discussing coping strategies as I can't go running this week - we didn't manage to come up with anything particularly useful but I feel better for having talked everything through.
I've been shopping this morning and I've bought a few own brand ready made sugar free jellies to fill up on if I need them. I have some sachets in the cupboard so I'll keep the pots from these ones and fill them up again by making up a sachet once the ready made ones are all used. I didn't sleep very well last night so a nana nap may be in order today. I think a nap is a better choice than eating my way round the house in order to try and stay awake.
Take care all of you0 -

Morning All,
Cranky - I hope that your calf's feeling better soon and that you're not still stressing about having a weekend away.
dumpling - I hope that you manage to start taking better care of yourself. I know that sometimes it seems like an insurmountable task but take it a bit at a time and try not to stress yourself out about it.
fit and freaky - well done on reaching 1 stone :T
Munchin - don't get downhearted about staying the same, I think that clothes are often a much better indication of how well you're doing so focus on that instead.
Rose Wood - it definitely sounds like you've got some lovely things, and good incentives, coming up. Congratulations on still being 3 stones lighter after 10 years as well!!
As others have said, everyone needs to find what works for them and it's going to be different for each person. I'm still not entirely sure what works best for me. The last time I tried WW (just following the diet rather than going to meetings, I'm another one who hates them) I ended up getting overly obsessed about not going over my points and was making myself miserable. I'm not all that good with counting calories either, for the same reason, so at the moment am just trying to eat as healthily as I can and not beating myself up about the slightly-too-many blips along the way.
My weigh in this morning was -0.5lb and I'm not sure whether I'm disappointed or pleased that it wasn't a gain.
I have eaten really well most of the time but was out for a friend's birthday on Tuesday, which involved a lot of beer, and my MIL was up for the weekend so had a cream tea for lunch and takeaway for dinner on Saturday and I had 2 bottles of wine over the weekend as well.
I'm kind of annoyed with myself for giving in and having some of those things but rather than worrying about it am trying to focus on the fact that I only had 1 scone (despite making a dozen), ordered boiled rather than fried rice and didn't bother with dessert after Sunday lunch because, as much as I would've enjoyed it, I didn't think it was really worth the calories.
As I've said before, I really should start logging food properly but I'm scared that I'll end up obsessing if I do.0 -

A quick post before work, although I don't have be there quite as early as usual, which means I can have an early home cooked meal.By the time I finish work I should have achieved my step total as I had a game of tennis this morning plus walking backwards and forwards. I've already been to work once today for a meeting and also to my friends for cards this afternoon.
Lunch: Homemade chicken and sweetcorn soup (from the remnants of yesterday's Sunday dinner). Babybel cheese
Dinner: Chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce with swede, wilted spinach and peas (again made leftovers from yesterdays meal)
Treats: 4 squares of dark chocolate, coffee with cream, one dark chocolate ginger biscuit, one oat and raisin cookie.
Well done everyone who has lost weight this week.

Evening all
Dumpling sorry your not feeling too good at the moment, I agree with what some of the others have said, you need to take care of yourself especially regarding your meds. I don't know much about blood sugars but I'm assuming if they are all over the place at the moment that will lower your mood as well and it becomes a downward spiral with one issue triggering another?
Cranky hope your calf is improving
Congratulations on you daughter's wedding Rose Wood a nice new outfit to show off your hard work, your exercise always puts me to shame, you're so active
After last weeks gain I've been trying hard to get back on track with plenty of vegetables etc, I made two batches of soup yesterday some of which I have frozen, but that's lunch sorted for the next few days. My interim weight in this morning showed a loss so I'm trying to maintain that as it did last week and then I ended up gaining
B - porridge and fruit
L - HM Chinese chicken and noodle soup with loads of diced vegetables
D - breadcrumbed chicken thigh fillets airfried, HM chips and coleslaw made with red cabbage, kohlrabi and apple. No egg or four on the chicken I just rolled it in spiced breadcrumbs and popped in the airfryer with no added oil
S - fruit salad and a couple of mini toblerone
Well done to all you who has lost or STS this week, and to those who haven't draw a line under the week and lets start afreshLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good morning, how are we all today?
Izadora I will stress ever so slightly about our weekend away until we get there, but I am at least looking forward to it now. We've discussed it so I have a better idea of what to expect which is what I need.
dumpling what's on the menu today? I thought I'd taken a scotch egg out of the freezer yesterday (low fat ones that our local butcher makes) but I hadn't so I ended up with jacket potato and cottage cheese the same as you. I haven't had that for ages so it was nice for a change. I'm having the scotch egg today instead
I still can't run so I'm somewhere half way between trying to rest my leg yet still do enough steps so that I'm not a total sloth. Sugar free jelly is my friend this week I think. It's a low calorie snack that fills me up if I'm hungry and there's a while until the next meal. I managed day one (yesterday) of no sweets, crisps or junk and spoke to my mate who's doing this with me last night for an hour - better than therapy :rotfl: His challenge for the week is to eat properly instead of doing without food all day because of his busy job then eating all sorts of junk when he gets home. By talking to me when he gets in from work we're breaking that habit and talking to him stops me from looking for sweets to eat too.
I've bought some of Asda's slimzone ready meals today to keep in the freezer because they're cheap and it's easy to do extra veg to go with them. Hopefully this means that if I have a day when I'm not in the mood for cooking or can't think what to have then there will be a healthy (ish) food choice still available. I haven't had a takeaway for months yet I still manage to find unhealthy things to eat on the days when I'm very stressed or tired.
Take care all of you0
