Looking at what else you've done today I'm surprised you managed 9000 Rose Wood :).

I've been pottering at home as well as some batch cooking so no walking done today. I've made soup for lunches next week it's mainly made from squash, sweet potato & carrot with odds and ends from the veg drawer including swede, celeriac, yellow pepper, leek and the stalks of some purple sprouting.

No breakfast today so early lunch of quorn goujons in a wrap with salad, dinner will be vegetable and lentil lasagna I'm trying a pinch of nom recipe for the white sauce using yoghurt, egg and cheese to see if it's worth making in the future rather than the traditional white sauce. If I fancy a snack later I have plenty of fruit

My aim for next week is to stay away from the work biscuit tin and avoid the cakes from two birthdays in the office, whose idea was it to bring in cake for your birthday at work

Thank you for the help re coloured numbers Cranky .ive been away to daughters for the weekend but tried to stick to eating sensibly. Luckily she is following slimming world so she catered brilliantly for us .Just got home and had a cheese and tomato toastie for supper and a small piece of chocolate roll ! That can be my treat and I will start my effort to lose another pound by Friday .Dumpling I think you are doing so well and along with everyone else on this thread there is such a lot of support and encouragement that I’m sure we can all minus a pound this week .Cranky I think days like you had yesterday happen to us all and they make us more determined to get up next day and go for it again .Heres to a good week everybody !

    Hi all,

Firstly, what a lovely supportive thread! Secondly, can I please join in?

I currently weigh 15st 4lb and am just over 5ft 9in (it's the 'just over that's important, obviously! :D). I have tried most diets in the world with temporary success but I need to get fitter and healthier and stay that way!

I am an emotional and boredom eater but also can't resist nice or free food and hate waste. :rotfl: I'm aiming to lose 11lb in this challenge with the ultimate goal being to get to around 12st by the time I turn 40 in Jan 2021 (blimey, that sounds like the actual future - you know, the one with flying cars and human colonies on far flung planets)

I lost 3 stone over the last 2 years with mfp and gym time but things have changed drastically here over the last few months and I now struggle to get to the gym as childcare is at a premium. I lost focus altogether when my dh's health started to fail in late summer last year but, even with my propensity for emotional eating and drinking, I have only gained about 5lb since he died in Nov.

I like to think of myself as a triple threat when it comes to dieting; I'm a bit of a foodie, my portion control is abysmal and I like a tipple. So, my aims are to keep an eye on portion sizes, keep snacking as an occasional treat, rather than hourly, and really enjoy and appreciate the food I eat.

Looking forward to seeing how we all do on this challenge and I'm quite excited!

    Vicky x
    Hi Vicky,
I am sorry to hear about your DH! I think all things considered your weight gain has been very minimal.
I love your triple threat saying :rotfl:I am also extremely guilty of all 3 myself!

    Afternoon everyone.
Lunch: Frittata with onions, garlic, red pepper, broccoli and mushrooms in it and topped with cheese and popped in the oven. Served with sweet potato fries. Mum also had Greek Yoghurt with mixed berries but I abstained.
Dinner: Minced beef and onions, with mashed potato, peas and carrots. I've also made a syrup sponge to serve with custard but I can resist that quite easily. (I did scrape the bowl though as I prefer my cake mixture raw to cooked!!)
Treat: 4 squares of dark chocolate
    Hi Rose Wood,
Do you just eat 2 meals a day?
Im curious about this as I 'delay' my breakfast and eat it at work sometimes as late as half 10, I find although im hungry I don't feel as hungry on totally empty stomach as I do if id eaten early.
For example I used to eat my breakfast at 7-7:30am and found myself ravenous by 10am. Yet I can quite happily wait until after 10am to eat my first meal
It might be me and im just odd :rotfl:

    Hi,

Yes I do eat just twice a day. I'm following a low carb diet and I find if I keep the protein and fat high and the carbs low I don't get hungry. I try to eat only between 12 and 6, though sometimes succumb to something after that. I definitely don't get hungry in a morning so make the most of it. I much prefer exercising on an empty stomach too. I've been studying nutrition quite a bit over the last twelve months and think I've managed to switch from being a carb burner to being a fat burner - which means in a morning my body is just burning my own fat rather than calories from outside. When I used to eat breakfast I got hungry far sooner than I ever do now. I had got down to 9st 6lb before Christmas but then succumbed to chocolates at work and ended up putting half a stone on. I'm still lighter than I was this time last year though and haven't 'dieted' or counted calories at all. I enjoy cream and butter etc and eat really well, but tend to get most of my carbohydrate intake from vegetables. I aim for under 50g of carbs a day, and use an app called Carb Manager to help me. If anyone is interested in the low carb approach then I thoroughly recommend the Diet Doctor site, which has masses of information.

Nearly up to my target steps now. I took DGD home, and she persuaded me to jog all the way!! It's only just over half a mile but I managed to jog (very slowly) without a break all the way there and then walked back briskly. I shall just have to jog round the sitting room now before bed if I haven't achieved it by bed time!!

Thank you for all the information that is really interesting and I will look into this myself.
Last year I followed Joe Wickes way of eating for a while which is mainly low carb and I did lose some weight (which is more than I'm doing now!)

  • Well, this week I am pretty happy to have stayed the same weight. I had a good week but I'd forgotten I had arranged to go out for lunch with a friend on Friday and we had friends round on Saturday and ordered in pizza. That and a neighbour have is a big box of chocolates as a thank you. I was mindful and didn't go mad on any of those things but I wasn't expecting to lose any weight after all that.

This week should be better. Fingers crossed! I've started well with porridge for brekkie and have some soup ready for lunch so here we go!

I haven't lost anything this week either which is disappointing. I wish now I'd taken some measurements too as I think my stomach feels flatter.

We had our main meal at lunchtime today as I am looking after DGD overnight. I shall be picking her up from school and feeding her. She has school dinners on a Monday and has requested some of my homemade soup for her tea. I like to eat with her so persuaded DH to eat early. He doesn't mind as he's making sourdough bread which will be ready later so he can have that for his tea.

I had a walk to tennis and then played tennis for an hour this morning. I am walking round to a friends shortly and will then be going to school so steps shouldn't be a problem today.

Lunch: Chicken breast with peas, green beans and sweet potato.
Dinner: Home made carrot soup. Greek yoghurt with lime juice and sweetened with Xylitol.
Treats: 2 squares of dark chocolate. Probably a chocolate biscuit with coffee at friends house.
