Hi Cranky ,just to say that I’ve mamaged to lose 1lb this week , very pleased with that but apologise that I couldn’t make the result stand out in my reply message . Will get my daughter to show me how to do it - I’m new to Money Saving site and computer skills not brilliant ! .0

Hi all,
Firstly, what a lovely supportive thread! Secondly, can I please join in?
I currently weigh 15st 4lb and am just over 5ft 9in (it's the 'just over that's important, obviously!). I have tried most diets in the world with temporary success but I need to get fitter and healthier and stay that way!
I am an emotional and boredom eater but also can't resist nice or free food and hate waste. :rotfl: I'm aiming to lose 11lb in this challenge with the ultimate goal being to get to around 12st by the time I turn 40 in Jan 2021 (blimey, that sounds like the actual future - you know, the one with flying cars and human colonies on far flung planets)
I lost 3 stone over the last 2 years with mfp and gym time but things have changed drastically here over the last few months and I now struggle to get to the gym as childcare is at a premium. I lost focus altogether when my dh's health started to fail in late summer last year but, even with my propensity for emotional eating and drinking, I have only gained about 5lb since he died in Nov.
I like to think of myself as a triple threat when it comes to dieting; I'm a bit of a foodie, my portion control is abysmal and I like a tipple. So, my aims are to keep an eye on portion sizes, keep snacking as an occasional treat, rather than hourly, and really enjoy and appreciate the food I eat.
Looking forward to seeing how we all do on this challenge and I'm quite excited!

Evening everyone.
Hope everyone has had a good day. I had yoga this morning, followed by coffee with friends. We had a good chat and I even got a cuddle of a baby as one of our younger class members came back after having a baby in September and brought him to coffee with us.
I couldn't persuade anyone to go for a walk today with me so went on my own and did a quick 3 mile round trip. So am almost at my target number of steps for the day now as I managed a fifteen minute walk before yoga.
Having my 5 vegetables a day target made my lunch a bit more adventurous than it might have been as I knew my regular Friday evening meal of egg and homemade chips (more like wedges really as I do jacket potatoes then slice them up and put them in the air fryer) wouldn't contribute much. So I sauted onions, garlic, tomatoes, orange, red and green peppers, broccoli and spinach together in a spoonful of butter, stirred in the remnants of a pack of cream cheese then topped with grated cheddar and put under the grill. It was delicious. It also helped empty the salad drawer in the fridge ready for buying fresh again.
Lunch: Cheese topped vegetables
Dinner: Egg, chips and mushrooms
Treats: 4 squares of dark chocolate, handful of mixed nuts (hazel, walnut, almond and cashew)
Spent some of my Christmas money on an artists light box today so am going to have a play with it tonight and see what I can do with it.

My digital scales are only basic Salter ones but work every well on my tiled floor, I didn't want ones to tell me my % of fat etc, as I can pinch more than an inch
they are only a half pound out from the ones at the doctors so accurate as well unfortunately.
I didn't manage a walk lunchtime as work got in the way, weather permitting I'll try to get one in tomorrow.
B - my usual winter one of porridge and fruit
L - HM split pea and ham soup from the freezer
D - steak, airfry chips, onions, mushrooms and green veg
Work was a little  today so having avoided the cake I succumbed to the biscuit tin when it was offered and a small G&T before dinner slimline tonic of course,Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Did my first weigh in today and I'm pleased to report a loss of 2lbs! I've been really pleased with myself today, as I have a couple of chocolate flakes in the fridge (left over from Christmas), and they have been calling to me for most of the afternoon and evening, but I've resisted them
.
I also have digital scales and I do sometimes find that they give me different readings, so I usually try 3 times and if 2 readings are the same I take that as the correct weight.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Good morning losers
I mean that in the best possible way of course. I'll be chuffed if I'm a loser next Wednesday :rotfl: I've just ordered myself an electric egg boiler and poacher. I really miss poached eggs - the late MrC used to make them for me and although I've learned to do them myself in a pan of boiling water I don't often bother because by the time I've made the HT's breakfast as well it seems like too much faffing around. This gadget also does good boiled eggs and it comes recommended by a friend. Boiled eggs without having to remember there's a pan of boiling water on the stove - what's not to like about that?
It's washing day chez Cranky. I might have to do a bit of marching on the spot to up my steps a bit. There's also a pinch of nom recipe for brownies that I want to try but I may leave that until tomorrow as then I can try and run off what I eat on Monday morning :rotfl:
VickyV I've spoken to you elsewhere.....well done for joining. I gained 3 stone the year after I was widowed because I lived on chips and cider (I did feed my son properly). I've added you to the list.
Mrs Lottie you have to press "go advanced" to change the colour and/or size. Once you've gone to the advanced option, the colour change is the choice that is a capital A with a black line underneath and the option to change it to a bigger size is the bit that says sizes. You just click on it and choose how large you would like your text. Make sure you type in the middle of all of the boxes.
Rose Wood your veggie grill idea sounds amazing. I might have to steal that :T
Brambling my scales are also Salter ones. I can't fault them. They were consistent with my slimming world weigh in every week.
Take care all of you0 -

Group weight loss week 1 ........... 7 lbs0 -
Hi Cranky
Thanks for setting this up, please may I join in. I would like to shift 10lbs and as I am going away for the whole of February, this will certainly be a challenge! I have been looking at everyone’s posts and think that this great group of people will keep me motivated and on track.
This is my first ever post and I can’t seem to get red text!
I find that chewing gum whilst cooking stops picking (when the kids were little it helped me to not hoover up their leftovers). I actually dislike chewing gum, but it is an effective deterrent.
Have a good week everyone.0 -

Hi, of course you can join us. I've edited the list up there ^^^^to add you. I've explained on my previous post how to change the colour but I'm not sure that you can do it of you're posting from a phone or tablet? I'll have to check by using my phone later.0
