Both my Barclays and Santander Accounts Are Under Review

This has happened to me in September 2018 so quite recent and I know what is allowed and what isn't.
In my case I sold Cryptocurrency and received the money into my personal Barclays account. Everything was fine what I didn't know was two out of the five sellers on the platform I used had obtained funds via fraud. They where like the fifth in the chain making me the sixth to receive the illicit funds. In my case unknowingly.
Anyhow everything was fine got the money release the crypto, I was using a platform called local Bitcoins (never again).
Like you woke up in the morning says contact Barclays no access to my personal or business accounts.
Called them said your accounts have been stopped and they cant discuss as online and phone banking has been removed, however I can go into branch and discuss. What annoyed me here was that it was not just my personal but also my business account. furthermore they would not tell me how long this would go on for or why.
So I did, they couldn't tell me much apart from there is a suspicious transaction.
So I called the FCA, useless to be honest said nothing can be done, but did advice me to call money advise service. After speaking to them they advise to put an official complaint into Barclays, via the email found on the FCA website, and ask for further information.
I did this and got Assigned a case worker. Anyway they eventually gave me a date of 21/09 so I had to suffer it and just wait. 21st came nothing happened. In the meantime my business was tremendously suffering.
All i could do was withdraw my pay by taking a pay slip to the branch and its at the branch discretion if they allow you to withdraw. After a few more days I contacted money advice service and this time they told me contact action fraud, financial ombudsman and FCA again. What annoyed me I was going on holiday from the 15th to 22nd and had no money and ruined my holiday. On the 25th finally the fraud team called me ask me why and what . had happened i had explained and done all the steps as advised and they vindicated me of any wrong doing. He also told me i had grounds for compensation due to the miscommunication.
What you can do?
1. Go to branch check your statement make sure you have not had any transactions which you do not recognise.
2. If you need money you can take your payslip and show your pay and withdraw you will need two forms of ID.
3. If there is a suspicious transaction contact action fraud in advance.
contact money advice service for further advice and have a record of all calls.
the issue is from your Barclays account and its flow of funds from there which has locked your Santander account. You will need to do above for both accounts just in case.
4. Try to contact the fraud team at Barclays directly.
My claim has still not been settled as the financial ombudsman has loads of complaint on such cases, and I had to show them losses the business suffered.
To ensure my safety I do not use local bitcoins any more i use xch4nge.com to buy and sell crypto, I also would suggest you read the terms of Barclays which can be found here
Whatever happens as long as you have done no wrong make sure you complain to financial ombudsman as none of the banks know what to do in these situations and normally because its fraudsters doing it and they are involved the banks get away with murder and treat everyone the same. when a normal person has this issue they treat you like a criminal as well which is completely wrong and its like guilty until you prove you are innocent. Keep me updated0 -

Thank you for this!
I haven't used or sold any bitcoins. When I went to Barclays, the rep could see that I barely use the current account. My wages and CB are paid into the savings account. But I'll go over my statements to check for any discrepancy.
I'll wait for the 10 days and then call the people you mentioned. This is too much and causing me unnecessary stress which I don't need right now. I've also submitted a request for Subject Data Access and I'm still waiting for any correspondence from them.0 -

I want to know too. I can't eat or sleep.0 -
Is your Mozno account still open? If there are no issues with this account then I cannot see it being a cifas issue.
You have great advice above to follow and triple check all your transactions.
Good Luck0 -
Make yourself a cup of coffee or a hot water and find out if these searches are showing on other agencies.0

i even called up equifax this morning to request for my free report...0 -
I just read another post regarding barclays closing down one customer's account and the customer was saying that after closing her account barclays will put a cifas marker on her profile.
I have a question - assuming I don't have a cifas right now and barclays close my account, can they put a cifas marker after their investigation?0 -
In addition to requesting a SAR, I’ve just now signed up with checkmyfiles.com
In January 2019, there have been 20 searches on my file!! One from Monzo which I had to apply for because of the banking fiasco and the rest of searches come from loans companies. I did apply for a loan with Aspire Money and then they sent me recommendations but I wasn’t aware that so many searches have been performed on my name. Does it affect my credit rating / history? Checkmyfiles.com generated a “no CIFAS registered” on my name. It says confirmed by CC (CallCredit) and EQ (Equifax). Is it accurate you think? Should I breathe a tiny sigh of relief?
Presumably they are soft searches rather than hard searches?
Did you use a comparison site to get a quote for the best loan interest rate? If so the searches will have come from that. Soft searches don't affect credit.0 -

If you genuinely haven't made any dodgy transactions then you've got nothing to worry about. As I stated earlier in the thread, Barclays froze and then subsequently closed my account as their fraud 'detection' systems thought my monthly salary from my employer (well known) was suspicious. However no kind of marker was left on my credit files as a result...nada, zilch. Once you get this resolved, just put this down to a very bad experience with Barclays. Don't go anywhere near them again0
