Caught Speeding

Pulled out of work today and 100 yards down the road I got hit by a mobile camera and pull over by the police doing 41 in a 30 zone.
I wasn't aware it was a 30 zone, as it was not a built up area.
Just checked the signs on google street view, and there are signs at the very start of the road (its a very long road) stating 30, however approx half a mile down the road is where I work, and from where I work to where the camera was there was no signage about the speed limit.
Surely on a road thats a couple of miles long should have more signage instead of signs at the beginning and end - as well theres lots of roads joining this road.
Hopefully I will get the speed awareness course and the 100 quid fine, but its just annoying that there is insufficient signage to remind you of the speed on a road which has trees and greenery one side.

Are there street lights? If there are it's a 30 and signs are actually prohibited.

There is no requirement for repeater signs in a 30 mph zone. You say you pulled out of your work so cannot even claim to be a stranger. What you should always remember is if in doubt then it is 30.

Yes I have just read that so I haven't got a leg to stand on. Yes I should have assumed 30, but all the roads around the Industrial estate are 40 yet for some reason this road is 30.

Surely you use this road regularly in order to get to work, so the fact you didn't know it was a 30 zone says you have very bad awareness of the speed limits.

Caught at 41mph because you were probably on your way to the 45mph you'd be doing for the rest of your journey, regardless of the posted limits.

I'm glad you've been caugnt. Hopefully you'll be more careful next time.
