Thank you for your reply, based on the link and some of the information from the C.A.B
Why did the accident happen?
If your accident was your fault you won't be able to claim any compensation. For example if you broke safety rules while using the hotel pool and had an accident.
To be awarded compensation you'll need to prove that your organiser - or their representatives at the resort for example the local hotel staff - were negligent. This means if your hotel or accommodation was badly maintained or dangerous or you weren't warned about possible accident risks your organiser will be held responsible.
For example your hotel didn't maintain the plumbing in your hotel bathroom properly and this led to a flood which caused you to fall and break your wrist. In these circumstances your organiser will usually be held responsible for your accident.
The " you weren't warned about possible accident risks your organiser will be held responsible." well considering the hotel manager said it was user error, there is no warning signs or user manual for the doors ( who would expect there to be ? ) there is no alloted signs with times on how long the doors remain open, no instruction manual or offer of one at the hotel front desk......but whom would think that would be required....I'm nearly 50 ! I've been using automatic sliding doors for years !!!!!!!! Lifes wonderful !!!!!0 -
I think you will look very desperate trying to claim for a bruised arm.
In your situation I'd write something vitriolic on tripadvisor to make myself feel better and then concentrate on the rest of my holiday.0 -
Which brings us nicely back to the first responses: How much do you want?
Had the doors not opened, OP might have walked into them and we’d have the same thread just with a different “injury”.
No doubt we’ll hear back in a couple of weeks when OP has had £500, a hamper and a free holiday.0 -
Just a word of warning. If the hotel or tour operator think you are "trying it on" there is a good chance your claim will be met with a counter claim.
Take a look on your favourite search engine. Some families have been left with legal bills in the thousands after making claims of "ruined holidays".0 -

Thank you, I shall, but something that is beyond my control that has spoiled part of my holiday is quite frankly unfair , the user error part that the manager accused me of really is a odd and unfair comment in my opinion, if it was a child or a frail person, it would of hurt them them in much more serious way, the fact the manager will not show me any details of the incident report book, or a record to show that the doors have been looked at by an engineer since the incident...all mount up to a lack of duty of care for myself or my fellow guests.!!!!! I found this rather amusing https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4548686/Hotel-sues-fake-holiday-bug-pair-170-000.html0
