Just a word of warning. If the hotel or tour operator think you are "trying it on" there is a good chance your claim will be met with a counter claim.

Take a look on your favourite search engine. Some families have been left with legal bills in the thousands after making claims of "ruined holidays".

Thank you , you are indeed correct , I have read claims of people saying they have suffered food posioning then posting on facebook happy hoiliday photos which contradict what they have stated when making a claim....which IMHO serves them right as it puts any genuie claims in a poor light.

The letter I have from the hotel does apologies for "the incident" so my situation has been acknowledged.

But hopefully my arm will stop aching in a day or so, but if I hear or see anyone else suffering something similar then other than my rep and a uncaring hotel manager , who would be best to contact, I think I did the right thing to request to view the hotel incidient book and to see a record to show that the automatic sliding doors in question have been checked and tested....if this was the UK , then of course it would be a health and saftey matter and based on been refused such information, I would of called the local health and saftey and lodged a complaint so that the matter could be dealt with, would that somehow be wrong of me to consider that no one else should be hurt ?

The word is SAFETY. You have no right to see either the incident book or the doors maintenance log. You are prolonging this far beyond what is reasonable. Drop it and enjoy your holiday please!

Thank you for your reply, would you prefer someone else to be potentially injured in the same way if you had suffered an injury while on holiday ? or do you think it is best not to care of other fellow holiday makers.? personally I would like to think the door has been checked by an authorized engineer for the that type of electronic sliding door....is that wrong of me?!?!? I am not the kind of person that would want anyone else to suffer a knock, I am a farily sturdy fit individual, if it gave me a nasty jolt , I am pretty sure a old frail person or a child would of felt it much worse than I.....I guess I am just too caring for my own good.

I'm sure somebody with a really sore arm wouldn't be spending their evening typing stuff into an internet forum.

In any event, if you've paid for insurance which covers this risk, and you think you have a claim, then you do so under your insurance. What would be the point of going to the hassle/cost of starting your own legal claim?
