email from Ovo this morning...supply starts 28 january...
load of docs about the contracts etc..not asked for meter readings

question then, does this mean EE were still effectively supplying up to the 28th january, and will there be a seperate bill for this, then a new bill from Ovo up to the point when EDF take over my supply hopefully this week. ?

There have been reports of Ovo changing the switch date so you may get another email giving you a different date. If your latest email from Ovo is to be believed then you have been on supply from Ovo since STRIKE]26[/STRIKE 28 Jan and EE will charge up to STRIKE]25[/STRIKE 27 Jan. I think the normal procedure is that you will hear from EE's administrators regarding settlement of EE's charges if you owe them anything.

It seems a bit strange that you haven't been asked for meter readings before 26 Jan. It might be a good idea to get some readings (snapshots) off to Ovo asap. As I say, you may get a different switch date from Ovo before too long.

"Thank you for your email regarding your switch to OVO Energy.

During your switch over to us, it looks like the gas supply wasn't transferred to our systems alongside the electricity supply. I have checked the national database and your property is showing as transferred, so now it is just a matter of getting the gas supply added to your account.

I have passed this over to our team that deal with transferring new customers and they should have a resolution for you within 13 working days."
  • OVO's communications are all over the place. Today's Welcome Letter appears to sit alongside the previous one but is very different in terms of its construction. Bearing in mind that the contract is dated 6 February 2019 the supply date commences on 30 January 2019. The contract can be cancelled before 26 January 2019 which is a date that is already past. The tariffs are different from the published tariffs and different from the tariffs quoted in the Welcome Letter that was sent a few days earlier.

With these various correspondences, Ovo is making serious errors.

Im not sure if ex EE customers who are owed credit are aware that they should contact ovo to register it with them so they can then check with EE. so its not as originally posted that ovo will contact you.

The 24 January email reads as follows:

We officially started supplying your energy on the 12th of January, but you'll see a later supply start date included in your welcome pack and any other communication from us.

This means on your first bill from us, your meter reading and energy charges will begin from the date included in your welcome pack – but the bill will also include the charges for the energy you’ve used since 12th January.

So OVO is saying that whatever a welcome pack says in terms of date, the real start of Ovo supply date is 12 Janaury. This makes no sense given that the meter readings requested were for 1st or 2nd February.

i would not be surprised at that its very frustrating being told one thing then another and also reading that ovo will contact ee to comfirm amount of credit refunds due and metre readings from those being moved to them We have first hand experience about how eficient ee are.
  • Switched away from EE in Octover and had final bill but no refund of credit. Emailed Ovo 4 days ago and no reply, has anyone had a respone yet?
