Economy Energy stops trading - MSE News

the readings are already all over the place as EE make up their own figures..my readings will still be less than their crazy estimates so i'm expecting some questions - anyway, i've already made my calculations and sent the readings to Ovo this morning..they will now 'validate' them they say....watch this space !!0

. . . One question though, given EE went bust on 7th january..and Ovo asking for readings by 31 january, what happens to those days in between..ok i'll give them my estimated meter readings but what about the daily fixed charge..will those remaining 24 days of january be charged by EE or by Ovo ?
Frankly, you may have created one awful mess if the closing readings from EE have been exaggerated and first need to be agreed with Ovo.
It is even possible that Ovo may object to the transfer to EDF - who knows ?Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

ovo have said they will commence supply on 28th january so my meter readings will be used as their starting point, and thus the closing point for EE..regardless of when EE went bust. There will likely be a recalculation of a 'final statement' for the EE account due to the transitional period between the 2 suppliers..I certainly would not expect ovo prices to start from 7th January...before they have agreed meter readings...I might be wrong but don't think i am. Any final balance from the recalculated 'final statement' would be brought forward into the ovo account anyway, In any event EE have massively over estimated my meter readings such that my 'new' readings are still less than those they estimated on 18th December... Someone will have to unravel all this stuff but the easiest way is surely to end and start contracts using the same meter readings...as at 28th january which Ovo has said is their start date ?0

So, EE's charges will apply up to 27 Jan in your case. I wonder if they will use the same date for everyone or if it will vary from customer to customer.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

haha..the best laid plans eh ? just this minute had another email from ovo saying they have taken over from EE on 12th january...so will bill me for any usage from then...guess they'll be asking for more meter readings but have said it'll be 6 weeks before i get the final EE statement and the first ovo bill..!!
here's what they said -
We know accurate bills are important to you, and the same goes for us. Now that you’re moving to OVO, here’s an update on your first bill, and how it’ll work. A recent meter reading and accurate bills go hand-in-hand, so after you’ve received your welcome pack, please keep an eye out for our instructions on how and when to give us one. About your first bill from OVO There’s a one-off quirk about your first bill - it’s happened because we had to take over your energy supply before we could create your account in our system that handles your bills. We officially started supplying your energy on the 12th of January, but you'll see a later supply start date included in your welcome pack and any other communication from us. This means on your first bill from us, your meter reading and energy charges will begin from the date included in your welcome pack – but the bill will also include the charges for the energy you’ve used since 12th January. For the same reason, standing charges between the 12th of January and your welcome pack start date will be added to your bill as an additional amount. We hope you’ll understand this is simply down to the short amount of time we were given to take over from Economy Energy – your following bills will be back to normal. What’s happening next You should get your final bill from Economy Energy in around 6 weeks, and you’ll get your first bill from us around the same time. We're working to make sure that we pick up your meter readings where you left off with Economy Energy, so you can be sure you're only paying for energy you've used. We’ll also be adding any credit balance from your Economy Energy account to your first bill. Got any questions?0 -
Just received exactly the same as Worn Out and a) haven't got a clue what it means and b) am concerned that I can't give them meter readings for 6 weeks and also can't move provider for 6 weeks so stuck on a rubbish tarrif.
Does the e-mail read like gobledegook to anyone else?
EDIT:
Oh and this e-mail today keeps talking about a welcome pack... has anyone had one yet? I've had nothing at all until this e-mail today.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

i've already been asked for my meter readings, haven't you ? Anyway the 'welcome pack' will likely ask for them although the letter above suggests they're going to use the final EE statement ? Seems to me that ovo are milking this a bit ...many of us have suffered barmy meter readings from EE and want reality restored before a final account is agreed and likewise the starting point for the high Ovo prices. Lord knows what EDF will make of this.. what happened to the days before 12th january anyway, EE billed me up to 18 december for usage and 31 st for daily charge....Going to get messy isn't it...0

I've just checked back on e-mails and have had literally 2 e-mails from them.
First one was on 12th Jan, subject "Hello. We’re your new energy supplier" which advises "It’s time to take a meter reading. Please take a meter reading as soon as you can and note it down. We will ask you to provide it when your account transfers to us."
Then nothing until today's "An update on your move to OVO" e-mail which states "A recent meter reading and accurate bills go hand-in-hand, so after you’ve received your welcome pack, please keep an eye out for our instructions on how and when to give us one." but then also states "We're working to make sure that we pick up your meter readings where you left off with Economy Energy, so you can be sure you're only paying for energy you've used."
Well I (and I think most of us) had massively inflated estimated readings from EE on our most recent bills. That doesn't particularly bother me because i'd rather pay for the energy at EE's rate than OVO's. But I also want to use Cheap Energy Club and move tarrif ASAP away from OVO's uncompetitive one.... can I do that now or do I need to wait the 6 weeks for my first bill from Ovo.
What a palaver!
Have others had their welcome pack from Ovo then?A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

I received an email timed at 3am this morning asking for my meter readings - perhaps they're working their way through the 280,000 customers...As for waiting 6 weeks - i've already signed up with EDF so am just keeping my head down 'til they start throwing numbers at me.. then I can play dumb if they want to use EE's high meter readings as like you say, that's cheap energy in the bank...until they ask for new meter readings then it's reconciliation time again... sit tight I guess, have a glass of wine....0

I was an ee customer and on prepayment meters... I've just been topping up as normal. Had a letter from ovo saying they'll be in touch with account details shortly. Should I do anything now or just wait till it's set up then look for cheaper tariff if they are dear? ThanksThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
