advice is to sit tight until it's all sorted. however some of us have already signed up with a new (cheaper) supplier and are just waiting for that to be processed...problem at the moment is january and february are my highest usage months and Ovo are 32% more expensive than EE..so this couldn't have come at a worse time...this is why i've already signed up with EDF. Am not sure how it works with a prepayment meter tbh...Ovo took over from 12th january but haven't got their paperwork sorted yet...it'll be another 6 weeks they say....that'll be end of february and could cost me an extra £70 over what I would have paid EE..hence why i've acted now..0

As you are on a prepayment meter, you are being moved to Boost(part of Ovo)
Have a look at https://www.boostpower.co.uk/economy-energy
Ovo have said it takes 21 days to transfer credit meters/accounts to them so I am waiting for that long before looking at changing providers (from 12 Jan)
You may want to ask on the Boost Forum how long the transfer period is for prepayment meters: https://forum.boostpower.co.uk/welcome-to-the-boost-forum-14/i-m-an-economy-energy-customer-what-do-i-need-to-know-7400 -
I wonder what would happen if I told OVO I wanted to cancel in the cooling off period?0

cancel, or transfer elsewhere ? As it is only Ovo can handle the former EE accounts, any new supplier would liaise with Ovo..there's no one else..0

I've had the same email, saying they took over my supply on the 12th. I've still not been asked for a meter reading.0

just had a flurry of emails from EDF..they have 'received' the gas supply from Ovo and will start supplying me on 8th february..the electric has been held however by ovo pending an 'investigation'... so EDF suggested I emailed Ovo and asked them to 'release' it to them asap...which I've now done, so hopefully that will also be with EDF by february too. Ovo will be supplying me from 12th january to 8th February, at 32% higher charges than EE were supplying me so you can see why I want to get shifted asap..Am now just waiting for a response from Ovo. Suggest folk keep meter readings for the crucial dates in case their is a dispute as to who supplied what and when, especially given the price hike at Ovo..0

With all of Economy Energy's manipuations of the direct debit system (whether by error or by design), I feel inclined to moved foward on a pay on receipt of bill system. Incorrect bills can always be contested prior to payment. Notwithstanding Economy Energy's abuse of billing, OVO was my prior supplier and I never had any difficulty and always enjoyed excellent customer service. My only gripe with OVO was that they removed their Smart Gateway service.
My search shows that for me with an expenditure of £2,047 annually for both gas and electric, there are only four cheaper suppliers for variable pay on billL Fischer -£66.89, Tonik -£49.73, Utilita -£28.76 and Co-Op -£0.38. On this basis, I would not contemplate a move from OVO which appears to be very price competitive.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
I've gone for EDF's 2 year fixed price deal...the 2nd year is only £8 more than the first year...and the first year was 2nd cheapest for my levels of consumption, after some other small operator...which I didn't feel like going to after the EE debacle. 8 small operators have gone bust so far and any savings you've made are quickly lost when Ofgem allocates someone like Ovo on their expensive variable charges..32% higher than EE and even 13% more expensive than EDF 2 year deal....0

Both year one and year two cost the same at £8 more than year one by itself.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
