    Morning all,
I've been awake since just after 3.30am and can't get back to sleep :( Wasn't helped by dh snoring loudly so I've given up and decided to get up and be productive!

    Todays list
    * chicken breast out of the freezer done- will make a bit of a chicken casserole later with leftover new years day veggie & some ys mushrooms, done, added in a bit of leftover sour cream & chive dip too will top with some mashed potato
    * set up kids jobs list for January - a bit late for this one! done
    * update kids pocket money chart in my bullet journal with pocket money done and ds1s spends from yesterday (also take a photo of it so that I can check the balance when the kids ask to buy anything) done
    * check banking/update spreadsheet done
    * take ds2 to his martial arts course again with a packed lunch done and an extra piece of fruit instead of money for the tuck shop
    * clothes shopping in town with ds1 - 3 t shirts & 3 school trousers needed done 3 t shirts @ £1.80 each and pack of two pairs of trousers - will do for now
    * ds1 can have the last wrap with chicken filling for his lunch to use it up [STRIKE]and I'll finish the beef stew
[/STRIKE] Kids don't like mushrooms so they can share the end of the beef stew tonight instead
    * heating off for as long as possible
    * wash a load on the quick 30 degree wash done
    * radiator shuffle ready for the heating coming on tonight at some point done
    * change bank details for a dd once this months payment has gone out. done

Thats the plan so far! Have a good day all.
    :heart:Cancelled netfix subscription - done
 Run the dishwasher on the quick wash - done
 Reserved a book at the library - its a new release and I'd pre-ordered from amzon but cancelled that as I've checked and our library has ordered a few copies so I'll read it for free instead
 Straightened up a couple of cupboards, gathered up the last of the xmas crisps, twiglets and chocs - don't need to buy any Friday night movie treats for a few weeks - rinsed out a couple of the plastic caddies that some sweets were in to re-use again next xmas
 Made dh & ds2s packed lunch for tomorrow from stores

Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Morning 1LL and all who follow. Must be something in the air, I've been awake since 4.30 and have just given up. That said I didn't get much sleep before that between a restless cat and a full on cold that has appeared in the last 12 hours!

Anyway, I've had 2 digestives - made a honey and lemon drink put the DW and wm on and cleaned the kitchen and now will catch up on here and some other chores before the smalls get up.

Its a day off for me today so hoping for productivity and some fun family time :D

DH already out to work but hoping he'll be back by lunchtime so we can do some stuff together later, walk out would be good (and free ;))
    Check banking
Reconcile my just for points cc
Something out of freezer for tea
See if I can freezer Jenga contents of one freezer in to another and switch one off, must remember I have a load of chicken coming tomorrow when I do this
Call lady about life insurance quote
Call car place about recall on my car and get it booked in
Think about what I'd like to plant this year and when I need to be organised to get stuff
Make a cake for smalls birthday rather than buy one, thinking lemon drizzle
    Kettle bell exercises at home
See if there is time for DH and or I to go the gym, thinking 15 minutes in the steam room would be bliss right now :rotfl:

Have a good day everyone. Purps.
  • Good morning all :coffee:
Hope all of you that have been up since the middle of the night manage to have a relaxing and restful day today. I haven't had a great night of sleep, but I didn't get up until 7. I have a busier day on today than I have for a week or so - I reckon it'll be a miracle if I get through today without spending but I will be mindful.
    So here are my plans:
Follow bestie to garage while she drops her car off (its been recalled) so I can bring her home again.
Take dd back to the hairdressers, where I have been promised that they will correct her hair colour for free.
2 hours of tutoring this afternoon
Take bestie back to pick her car up before 5pm
Make sure I'm home for my online grocery delivery (apparently everything is in stock today so I'm pleased about that).
I am hoping for a bit of time for a chat and catch up with bestie but things are looking a bit tight in terms of time management.
Looking at it, there's no reason for me to be spending but I said that yesterday...
Have a good day all
  • Have a good and productive day all! I was also awake, from about 330 to 630...with work ‘frogs’ going around in my head. Going in today (due back tomorrow) for a half day to sort some of them out! Can’t be doing with that again!

But... only a half day so am coming around slowly. Grateful for luxury almond yoghurt from the Xmas treat stash and musli from the use it up box... And for the chance to bring it and a cuppa back to bed.
Currently planning route and jobs to make the most of taking car to work and on to aged relatives, where i’m kipping tonight. Just switched the heating to off for two days :)
Being gentle on myself today. It’s clearly enough of a challenge getting back into work! Am taking slightly-dodgy-looks-like-it-might-not-taste-of-much-frozen-soup in for work lunch along with some bread for toasting and a stash of tiny portions of butter I located in the fridge!

    Good luck all!
  • Morning! :j

I did it - got up early to put a load of washing on and went to yoga at 7.30 (unheard of!!). I nearly drove but decided it would only take 20 minutes max to walk, so saved the petrol and felt very virtuous. :p My membership has 'paid' for itself this week.

    Todays plans:

Gammon in slow cooker for tea - using up bread rolls and last of the christmas cheeses. Then divide up for lots of other meals.

Washing on line - (if I can believe the forecast this time...)

Small spend needed to take the kids swimming. 2 out of 3 have free swims included with their swimming lessons package, so only the eldest to pay for - £2.70. Will take after-swim snacks with me to avoid the vending machine temptation.

Really must sort 2019 calendar/diary out

    Meal plan

Finish mega money spreadsheet with DH - nearly there

Tackle a pile of doom and sort stuff to sell/charity

Christmas tree down and to recycling, sort unwanted/unused decorations to reduce the amount going back in the loft. Wondering if anything will sell or just charity?

Get kids to write thank you notes for Christmas pressies

Cancel unwanted magazine subscription - look for paperwork for account details.

Go for a short walk in the woods

Get kids to shred paper for hamster bedding.

I've found a little nook I can convert to a home office area so will start looking at that today. My paperwork/filing/organising is shocking and I've found a whole lot of expired coupons. I figure if I can sort out a little desk, I can get much more organised. I reckon I can do it without spending anything.

Phew - a few targets today! Washing machine has stopped, so off to peg out.

    Have a lovely day!
  • Welcome to all of the newbies, it is a great thread that helps keep me on the straight and narrow......and Ally's list always reminds me to check quidco!!!! Lots of useful tips on here

CCL I don't think u will ever be rich with naughty tortie! My eldest tortie is now being monitored every 3 months but def wouldn't be without them.

My main thing I've done this last 24 hours is given the kitchen floor a really good clean (love to wake up to a clean kitchen floor-strange I know, just feel in control).
Have also started to deal with the frogs, feel much better. Aim to sort out another 2 today. Updated diary while in the process of dealing with the frogs.

Just need to pick up cat litter today. plenty of leftovers to keep us going still and freezer is stuffed full.

Went to Asd@ yesterday and ended up with 20 reduced selection boxes 38p each. Opened and popped into starving students 2nd food bag ready for going back to uni but really ideal for snacks for her and I know between her and her BF they will locust thru them. Also sorted out a few Christmas bits that wont be eaten for the student food bag.

Been tidying up and putting away things. DD has changed the beds so lots of washing to be done.
    RM survey to be posted
Decluttering mission for this year has also started. 1LL I found in the airing cupboard school items DD had grown out of. Don't know why I have kept them, but i do remember the cost of the growth spurts, especially trousers with DD and trainers.
Still putting things away from Christmas-presents and decorations. Most things done now, just the last few bits.

Need to update spends book and still do month end for December-might do this later when doing pressure sore treatment prevention.

Think that's about it from me today, have a good day everyone x

I wonder where she gets that from? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Loving the sound of all the clothes you are making atm :)

Not much sleep for me either :( Must be something going around.
Few things accomplished - OH had someone staying over, so had to be sociable:
Market this morning, bought a very few bits to sell on, plus some cauliflowers (3 for £1) and some rolls for dinner tonight :)
    Noted spends in diary:A
Finished off leek and potato soup for lunch, with fresh bread and butter before visitor left
OH treated a cupboard for woodworm
And I dug a big hole to plant out a hebe that had outgrown its pot, replanted the bulbs that I dug up while doing so, swept up path and carried large and heavy pot round to the back.
Took the dog out for a walk round the park with OH
Did dinner for OH, DD2, GD and I - was just sweet potato wedges, burgers, buns and salad, but that didn't stop GD from wanting the candles lit on the dining table :rotfl:
Still need to check banks and update spreadsheet. Bathroom floor could do with washing, but it might have to wait till tomorrow now!
  • Thanks Dawn it's a lot of fun. A lot of stuff doesn't turn out how I had hoped, but it's all a good learning curve!

Just got my first money from work I have done :D going to save it all up and at the end of the year rejoice! Wouldn't it be good if it paid for a holiday to Brazil???
