Afternoon everyone and a warm welcome to ChasingtheWelshdream and Dickenslass.

This morning I did the first supermarket shop of the year; milk, fruit and salad bits. We can cover vegetables from the cupboard and freezer, we make our own bread and have enough ingredients to make many more loaves. Both toilet roll and butter are running low, they will start the next list, which I hope we won't buy until next week.

In a little while we are off to visit our friends who live over an hour away it's not a great journey and I don't have satnav. We don't see them as often as we would, due to everyone's commitments and more recently serious health issues for both families.

    Todays plans:
    Write shopping list
    Shop sticking to the list
    No other spends except shopping
    Make bread
    B/L from home
Take water with us for the journey
    Check bank account
Turn off lights and appliances not in use
Close curtains before it gets dark
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

    Afternoon all

We popped in to town for a family breakfast at a local cafe. Quite a nice 'regrouping' after the madness of Christmas and New Year.

Picked up a few bits that we needed and did a small Tesco shop whilst there. Spends were low though

Took 6 bags of bits to the Charity Shop while there too (slowly starting to sort the loft out) and am refilling the boot now with rubbish from the loft, and general oversized recycling from Christmas. I'll get up early and get that out of the way

Last night I started to try on clothes from the £10 bargainous bundle I got in the morning - I now have 2 more pairs of jeans, some jogging bottoms for exercise class and a pair of smart trousers to add to my wardrobe, plus 2 new cardis and a few new fleece jumpers. I'm waiting for OH to get up for his night shift and will then try on tops. Anything that doesn't suit me, I'll see if my Mum or MiL wants them otherwise I'll donate them to a Charity Shop

Later on, I'll start to pack away the Christmas tree, and dinner is from the freezer

Tomorrow I need to take my eldest into London for a hospital appointment so it won't be an NSD. I will take out rolls and cake out of the freezer this evening though and take food with us. And also take some Chilli oit to defrost for tomorrow's dinner - after the trek in and out of London I won't want to do a big cooking session

I've been at home all day so haven't spent anything! I've been procrastinating big time though so I need to get a hustle on with this studying!
Mortgage: £363,959.10 as at beginning of November 2024 (re-start of diary following house move)

Next goal: sub £360k by March 2025

Daily interest at end of November 2024: £36.25
  • Welcome to new folk on the board - always nice to see more people posting (says me who sometimes falls off the boards for days on end)
Hope that you enjoyed visiting your friend BB
Did I say I was aiming for a nsd? On the same day I was taking naughty tortie 1 to the vet? I should have seen the hilarious irony in that post. Naughty tortie wasn't well enough for her vaccinations, but did need steroid injections and a vitamin jab. I left the vets £55 lighter and still needing to take her back in 3 weeks to see if she can have her vaccinations then.
I figured that as I was spending I would bring forward the weekly grocery shop. Whilst I intend just to exist on leftovers, the kids won't unfortunately so I spent another £54 online at Mr S. It's being delivered tomorrow but I'm counting the spend today as that's when I've ordered it.
So I didn't manage a nsd, and I didn't manage a nap BUT I did cross 3 frogs off the list so I will have to count today as a win overall :D

    Evening Pence Wranglers,
Woke up stupidly early with a headache, so have decided to take it easy tonight. Some useful stuff achieved earlier though:
*Took Christmas tree down. Now back in garden until next December.
*Decorations sorted into sturdy recycled boxes & packed away......a boxful also for charity shop bag.
*Christmas crockery packed away - took the opportunity to reorganise both dresser cupboards as I was on my hands & knees. More stuff added to charity bag.
*Leftovers for lunch & last of the Christmas cake with our coffee. Cake ribbon & decs packed awsy for next year as well as a silver cake board which I found yesterday.
*Moved some furniture around & swapped sone ornaments & other bits & pieces for a bitnof a free new look.
    *Did some knitting.
*Steak & kidney in slow cooker using yellow stickered shin beef. Use-it-up veg..... a couple of parsnips which will be mashed with the potatoes.
*Christmas tablecloths, pinnies, etc, all loaded in washer for overnight Economy 7 laundry at some point.
*Fed sourdough jar ready for mixing up dough tomorrow.
*Investigate online options for selling vinyl.
And that, my little new year frugalistas, is it for today. Aiming to have a much earlier night tonight to get back.into routines.

Hi guys :D late one for me, just winding down after my shift. Wasn't too bad. My new mantra on a work day is I can do anything for 12 hours!

    Small things for the day:

    * took b/l/d with me
    * NSD :T (I rarely manage these so quite pleased )
    * came home & tidied up (less cool!)
    * potentially have a commission to make a weighted blanket. Need to price it up and see what the woman says....
    * wrote spends since 31/12 in my spending diary - I am determined to actually keep it!
    * going to go and read my book and have a fairly early night
    * have a look in freezer & get something out as friend is coming for dinner & a catch up tomorrow evening.

Lovely to see new posters :A

  • Evening all! I hope those who are under the weather feel stronger and sleep well; and all ventures undertaken today have been successful
I didn’t get to the gym, but did get a long walk in the sunshine in instead, and saw a heron by the river, really up close.
I also didn’t get my exp done but have found a way to wangle them into tomorrow’s schedule.
I enjoyed low key socialising today - visited a friend and swapped books, looking forward to the one they have loaned me. I had a new neighbour over for tea and mince pies (made with leftover pastry from fridge) - enjoyed the conversation. Caught up with lodger over dinner, which was leftovers for me. Cooked up extra mash for the freezer and triaged fridge and freezer. Found some lovely meals / bits and an awful lot of meat, fish, for a primarily veggie nearly vegan household. Going to have to focus meals with DD this month when she visits so it gets eaten! I cooked my baked beans in the oven in a dish while warming other things through, that was my mse tip of the day!
    Sweet dreams everyone! X
