Hello Saturday Savers,
I am intending some leisure time later, but here are today's frugal efforts:
*Laundry on heated airer - no rain but too cold outside for drying towels.
*Grocery shopping done & came in smack on budget, despite buying a couple of non-list items which were on offer.
*Synchronise diaries with mr f & ear mark potential family weekend & camping dates. Being very organised always saves us money.
*Prep & freeze a few things to avoid food waste.
*Read my charity shop novel.
*Good decluttering today as 3 bags to charity shop, 2 bags of glass to bottle bank & there will shortly be a crate & a bagful going down to the shed.
*Cut a bunch of parsley.
*Two baths from one lot of hot water.
*See if I can knit my jumper. My tendon was awful last night but not as bad today.
*Eat upmarket dessert which was gifted to us. Meant to eat last week bit we were too full!
*Update DFW diary.
Have a good weekend, folks.

Afternoon all,

- Can I ask what you mean by frogs? I'm intrigued.
A very lazy NSD today after a busy day yesterday.:p
We've decided to cancel our Netflix subscription, but there was one series DS1 has been waiting to be released (A Series of Unfortunate Events), so we declared today a duvet day and have just finished binge-watching the entire series 3 (we've never done this before!) So I can now cancel the subscription and save £5.99 per month. We also cancelled two other memberships we didn't really use and haggles our broadband to half the price. In total that covers the cost of DS2 & DS3 swimming lessons each month
Still to do:
Washing on airer
B/L/D from stores (resisted urge to walk to Greggs for a sausage roll first thing):D
Portion and freeze left-over gammon
Mend a school jumper (ripped seam) to hand down to DS2. Tomorrow gather all PE kits/uniform etc ready for (finally!) school next week.
Ask next-door neighbour if she is dumping the chair & chest of drawers she has put outside. If so, could we please re-home.
DS1 wants to walk to town to spend his Christmas book tokens - will do in a minute walk through the park on the way back. (Not my money, so still technically an NSD)
Tackle a long-overdue box of paperwork and burn anything necessary (a few minutes free heat)
Continue the lazy (but NSD) theme. :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon all
Managed to scupper my nsd todayGot up this morning to find the following...
Pile of cat sick, spilt litter tray, kitchen looking as though a small nuclear device may have gone off in there, and then a bliddy puncture on the car
Good news is I managed to get the puncture repaired for £11 rather than the £80 or so a new tyre would have cost, and I made it to my tutoring only an hour late. Plus I did clean up after the cats before I left the house.
- Got home and tidied the kitchen while I waited for lunch to cook.
- I have also sorted rubbish and recycling
- hoovered again
- put some stuff in the loft
- Get my pressure cooker out and read through the book
- Put clean washing away
- Try and sort out some online stuff (like car insurance and new login for my exam marking account) as I want to cross a couple of frogs off the list
- Do not think about work
- Watch telly and do some more purple blanket crochet
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Afternoon all,
CLf, sorry to hear about your morning! What a start to the day!
We've had a chilled start then extended family came for breakfast, my sis brought the bacon and I had the part baked baguettes - a yum combination
We then played some card games whilst cooking the two ys chickens I bought yesterday and had with the last of veggies bought over xmas (my fridge and freezers are looking very bare now) For dessert my parents brought a ys yule log which we all enjoyed. A nice way to end the kids xmas break.
I've placed an order from musc1efood for meat to come later in the week and went through a cashback site, often m/food hasn't paid out but worth a try for something I was ordering anyway.
Updated calendars with the family as we have various appointments/commitments this month were we are helping each other out with lifts or childcare etc
My dad gave ds's and dh a hair cut - this must save me a fortune over the years!
Got all our xmas decs put into the loft (they've been in the spare room for a week soooo nice to see a clear room again (we'd been waiting for my sis to bring something from her's to go in the loft which is why they've been hanging around so long)
Still to do
* label up ds's school trousers
* put chicken bones into the slowcooker to make a stock
* wipe out the fridges as they're so empty
* write two shopping lists - 1 for tomorrow (pack up stuff etc) and a proper list for when I go shopping on my own when kids are back in school to properly stock up.
* decide on another film to watch on Netflix with the kids with nibbles (as we've cancelled it from the end of the month )
Thats about it. Take care all,Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Evening all
Today saw a very controlled me at a large town (my eldest needed to exchange something). My only spends were a sausage roll for DS2 (he decided last minute to come along and I didn't have anything defrosted that I coukd take for him), a hat for the Murder Mystery costume from a CS for £4 and car parking. We took rolls for the rest of us
Went food shopping earlier and spotted OH's coffee on offer so stocked up. It was rather eyewatering though. Also managed to get some super-reduced dog biscuit and multipacks of crisps. They were reduced because their outer pacakings were damaged, but they dog food helos stretch the pet food spends a lot and the crisps will make nice treats in the kids lunch boxes
Food was from stores and also s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d a 750g pack of mince to 4 family-sized dinners
Dinner for tomorrow has also been taken out of the freezer - some turkey left over from Christmas
The 3rd wash has just finished in the machine but all the airers are in use at the moment so I'll hang thus last out in the morning
Last night I had an early night and felt soooo much better for it this morning so planning to do the same tonight
Have a good evening allApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

Morning guys
Had a lovely evening yesterday with my friend and her husband, they left around 10.30. And despite having had a few glasses of wine oh & tidied up so this morning the house shows no signs except a couple of oven trays that need to be washed
Small victories!
Today:
get all of madam's things ready to return to school
Go to the allotment for an hour. Have made a decision re my allotment as feel now I'm starting to think about starting a business I don't think I have time for a full allotment. So I'm going to give up half and build raised beds. Not sure how the person I share the allotment will take it. I struggled with sharing the allotment as we do things differently and I wasn't 100% happy with her approach. Given this I'd rather officially have a smaller plot that I am in charge of
dinner will be gammon joint soaked yesterday, cooked in the pc and lo potatoes & veg from last night :money: There's some left over pudding as well
madam wants to do some of her lol album. I'm thinking a walk, games and a film for activities for the day
finish skirt & iron a shirt I want to put some darts in and shorten so it fits me better
Have a discussion with oh about wardrobe doors we are going for and order. Next weekend oh & his dad and building a built in wardrobe in our bedroomHave just seen a couple of bedside tables on fleabay that are near so will show him. Hopefully he likes them as they are £30 rather than £100 if bought new
That's all I can think of for today.... Hoping to enjoy our last day so family holidays before madam goes back tomorrowHappy Sunday everyone
