Enjoy your day dnms were planning a similar approach as it's back to the school routine tomorrow which two people around here will find a shock to their system after the last 2 weeks :rotfl: our plan for today:

Breakfast treat out, but I have a gift card, so nil cost
    Rest of meals from stores/freezer
Blitz broccoli and Stilton soup I made in sc
Put wrap from new block of butter in fridge for next time I need to grease a tin (I always do this and never need to use from the block for greasing)
    Quick vacuum through
DH do another tip run, 1 done yesterday
    More sorting of garage/shed
DH and both to the gym/do some exercise
Get bags ready for school tomorrow and make 2 packed lunches

Have a good day everyone. Purps.

  • Thanks guys for the discussion re 'frogs' I decided to tackle the last 3rd of the massive hg squash :j it is now diced, portioned and in the freezer :D will deal with the seeds shortly ;)

I'm again struck by how simple the house is when it's actually tidy! It makes such a huge difference! So easy to clean and keep spick and span. Can we last like this? Maybe now would be a good time to konmarie so everything has a place. Oh would do much better if we could get to that point!

    Morning all :)
Up early, washed hair, fed dog, cleaned kitchen, cleaned out the wood stove, quick tidy round and emptied the bins :D
I intend to spend the rest of the day tidying up the garden as it looks like a bomb site after OH replaced the raised bed sides yesterday, with old bits of wood, black plastic and soil everywhere  Done, all swept up, we cut up the old wood, saving the best parts for another small raised bed we are making. The rotten bits and offcuts went into the firewood store :) Only downside is that OH now needs to buy MORE wood etc to make the new raised bed, as there aren't enough salvaged materials to do all of it.
All meals will be from home, and I don't intend to spend anything :)OH had leftover cauliflower cheese with some beans for lunch, I had soup, crackers and cheese. There is enough soup for tomorrow as well :) I did pot roast pheasant for dinner, all from stores. Nothing spent today :T
Back later to update on progress!
Stove alight now, so I am toasting my toes :) Kettle is on top for free tea later :D

    Morning all,
Dnms, I think what you said about your allotment is a good idea. Better to be able to do exactly what you want with your own space.

I'm another one thinking about getting the kids back to school tomorrow, it won't just be a shock to their system it will be a shock to mine too! Ds1 is in full on teenager mode now and isn't waking til nearer 9am (even after getting him back to his normal bedtime this last week!) 7am tomorrow isn't something I'm looking forward too :rotfl:

So far this morning I've been to aldee with my list and decided to get more then I'd planned (I'd planned to go today for packed lunch stuff and again tomorrow for the rest) I got most of my full list and will try to make do with that for a few days.

    Still to do
    * put a load in the washing machine on the quick 30 degree wash done
    * radiator shuffle ready for ^^
    * make families lunches for tomorrow
    * today we will use up some more of the chicken/mushroom casserole I made the other day tasted even nicer today! dh asked if i'd make it again but it was a concoction fridge use up including dips!
    * will watch the sequel to the film we watched last night with the kids and snacks this afternoon
    * MUST label up the school trousers and make sure the kids bags are ready for tomorrow.

Hopefully I'll add more as the day goes on.

    Take care all.

    Hi Sunday Savers,
Quite a relaxing day today, but heaps of jobs on my list for the week ahead.
*Jiffled everything around on heated airer to shorten drying time (so I can switch off overnight).
*Washer loaded for ovenight laundry on cheap tariff.
*Mended the first pair of socks I ever knitted - Years ago, so they have lasted well.
*Did a task from my Annoying Jobs list. Time it took = 15 mins. Cost = Nil.
*mr f cooking roast pork tonight. Batvh cooked braised red cabbage & apple sauce from freezer.
*Very cheap fitness this morning. Drove to fairly local gorge, paid v small parking charge & enjoyed a lovely walk. Avoided gift shop temptation.
    *Knit more of my jumper.
*Bit of a quick tidy - I will never be one of these people who is endlessly straightening stuff & plumping cushions up & my style is not minimalist, but I do find that a tidy home seems to reduce mental clutter as well as saving time & improving productivity. The key seems to be to have a place for everything. I certainly have an increasingly low tolerance for piles of stuff all over the place.
Ok, I have just been supplied with a nive big mug of coffee, so shall swig it then resume a bit of knit 1 purl 1.
Anyone else feel a good MSE week coming on? I'm up for it!

  • Hello :hello:
NSD number 3 of the year in the bag. Never mind anyone's kids shock to the system about going back to school - I've got awful dreads about a full teaching day tomorrow
Tackled a couple of holiday frogs - 6 weeks will fly over and I want to make sure that we're good to go when the time arrives. Also need to still tackle packing my school stuff and sorting out what to wear.
Been off to visit my mam and stepdad which is always excellent company, good food and getting spoilt. Today they have treated the kids to new swimwear. My stepdad has also suggested that I get the car tyre checked out properly tomorrow at a tyre place in case there is some wall damage because of my driving it when the tyre was flat and it might need replacing anyway. I'll put that on the list for tomorrow (eyeroll) after school.
Tonight involves relaxation and using some of my Christmas smellies for a soak in the bath, and bed at a reasonable hour.
