Had a lovely day but not much done. Went to mum's after getting some money out of her bank (she said she needed some), we both had lunch (soup for mum, leftovers from yesterday for me - still one piece left which I have brought home), did a bit more jigsaw (mum struggling again - may need to downgrade to children's jigsaws as larger pieces are easier for her to pick up).

I had booked a taxi for 1 pm to take us visiting (her 1st boyfriend - they are the only two of their class still alive). Lots of 'chatting' on subjects including Islamic art/architecture and its mathematical origins, PTSD, travel, cats and horrible in laws (weddings and family rows) - I enjoyed it and had a lot to contribute (I am generally awkward in social situations but today I actually apologised several times for talking too much.

We had a demonstration of his food mixer (easy to use, lightweight, reasonably priced). Mum has a Kenwood that is over 40 years old (bought when she was working full-time to help us with the food for my 21st), very heavy and only works safely for a couple of minutes. He had already found the same model on-line and between us we managed to order and pay for one to be delivered to mum.

Came home and I am so tired.

Today I am grateful for an entertaining afternoon, for doing something different and for being 'dressed up' - must have looked good because mum did not comment (she would have if anything about my appearance did not come up to scratch).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

    Hi Turtles:j

NSDs – Aiming for 10 as am going away on 22nd for a few days (Christmas treat) : now 9/10

    Make plans for the month
    – Planned visit to Barcelona later in the month. Rail ticket & plane already paid for. No more plans as yet...

Always pay your debts first – No debts but do use a cc which is paid in full every month...need to rein this in, spending has been frightful of late..CC paid off in full, now need to make sure it doesn't rack up to those levels this month. No spends today. Going to restart PAD payments to try & get cc balance down. Change out of drawer downstairs into savings tin.

List your frogs – Started another very large frog this week, but am pleased with progress. (Clearing bedroom). Done some frogs from list, now need to list more as plenty still to get to grips with...did another 15 mins on bedroom last night & aim to do same tonight. Big shout out to mothernerd for passing on the tip to leave a room better than you found it, really resonates with me and am trying to implement it.

Little Savings – Will check out how much in £2 coin piggybank to see if it will help with holiday spends. MIL cash paid into joint account. Will check £2 piggy tomorrow.

Chill out – working on this. Always read before sleeping but sometimes counterproductive as I want to keep reading, then can't sleep! Also have been continuing with my complex knitting, can now do whilst watching tv....also needles came today for next very big project..

Helping others gave friend who comes round on Wednesday afternoon a big jar of pickles, she was thrilled! Should have given at Christmas but forgot.

Always be grateful – Grateful for today:

    - quality time chatting to friend

    - DH cooking supper, only curry with a jar sauce (which is his absolute limit) but nice to be cooked for.

    - lady dog not being ill after eating two whole packets of skinny whips (10 bars in all). DH said lucky he got there in time to remove a packet of wholemeal thins from her. Obvs she's on a heath kick this year...

    New to Younot today

    Get involved I'm here!

Exercise Not today unless you count housework.

Sort it out – Need to do this & will be eating from stuffed freezers & cupboards for January. Failed to find inventory of freezer that I wrote the other week, but it must be around somewhere! Food from stores today.

    GO Turtles!!!!
New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear
  • Morning all!! :)

It was I who was seeking inspiration for my lentil mountain - and other random ingredients. Thank you so much CLF / Foxgloves for the recipe. It sounds lovely, will definitely be trying that out! Also very thankful for the point towards the ingredients website. I think that will be very handy!
    :j
Have been MIA with a really nasty bug that floored me. Finally feeling human today, though far from able to get up. A day in bed I can cope with, much more ‘enjoyable’ if I can read or potter a bit than the state I have been in!
    Today’s MSE things:
Will continue eating from stores when eating at all!
(On that note, last weeks batch cooking really helped on the days when I could eat but couldn’t cook this week).
Our Mon to Fri Lodger has been really helpful this week with odds and ends around the house. People are lovely.
Will do expenses claim as NY resolution is that these go in weekly. Right faff.
A few bits of logistics planning to try to get things done for myself when travelling for work as away a lot next month.
Need another docs appt for underlying condition. Will make this. God bless the NHS.
Will look at list of 100+ frogs and see if there is something suitable to make inroads into today. There is bound to be!
HWB instead of heating. To be honest am loving the cold room with this bug anyway!
Dishwasher and Washing has been on overnight.will move to airer at some point. No rush for anything today.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
    For yesterday

Spend free days (NSD’s)I'm going to aim for 20 as money is going to be pretty tight this month - nothing spent so now on 10/20, halfway to target :T.

Make plans for the monthI've got a couple of things planned for this month but will make sure that they are as low budget as possible - next up is theatre evening with the girls, ticket already paid for but will probably go out for a meal/drinks before.

Always pay your debts firstBudget is done for January and debt payment has been made - nothing additional paid.

List your frogsMade a start on this and will add to the list as I think of more - wrote thank you cards to relatives for Christmas presents.

Little savings I've added a whole £2.50 to my emergency fund taking it to £9.50 :rotfl:, will continue to add as I can - nothing added.

Chill out – Will aim to read a bit every day. I've also got a few adult colouring books which have been sitting there for ages so will aim to do some colouring in too - spent some time colouring.

Helping others – I've set up a charity donation which will come out at the start of the month. I'll also add items to the food bank whenever I'm in the supermarket - nothing added.

Always be gratefulWill post 3 gratitudes each day. - gf df garlic chicken Kiev for tea, David Attenborough and a good chat with OH about future stuff :)

New to YouMe and OH are planning to do a huge sort though of all our stuff, there's still unopened boxes from when we moved in, who knows what treasures we might find ;) - nothing done.

Get involvedI always struggle with daily posting but will try this month - I'm here :D

ExerciseI really need to get back into exercising regularly. Now have new running shoes so no excuses! - nothing, supposed to be going out for a run with a friend this morning but it's been snowing so not sure if we'll go.

Sort it out I don't really have anything in the cupboards lurking that doesn't get used except spices but will aim to use up some of them - nothing used.

    Mortgage overpayment savings - £33.53/£50

Make plans for the month – Nothing added for this month but have a wedding to add to the diary for July :) Already decided to wear a dress I already own;)

Always pay your debts first – DD gone through for zero balance CC so now in credit

List your frogs – I am going to re write my list this week as I have got a bit lost

Little Savings – £2 coin and coins in pots

Chill out – turning over and watching Kirsty and Phil last night when DH fell asleep in front of the football on TV

Helping others – nothing to add

Always be grateful – Today I am grateful for:

    1) The honesty of a person handing an item in I had lost and the lost property office sending it back so quickly
    2) Being able to work from home
    3) The unappetising green soup I had made and frozen was actually really nice when eaten
    4) DH selling a designer top he doesn't wear for a good price

New to You – no progress

Get involved – Hello turtles :)

    On NSD 14 today...
I have done a few of my frogs this past week which I am really pleased about, including one I had been putting off for 18 months! Sometimes when you just sit down and do something it isn't even that big a deal!
    Helping others:Volunteering tonight.
Sort it out: Might try and use up some things from the cupboard this weekend!
