Spend free days (NSD’s)I'm going to aim for 20 as money is going to be pretty tight this month - popped to the supermarket to get a few things so still on 2/20.

Make plans for the monthI've got a couple of things planned for this month but will make sure that they are as low budget as possible - first is a catch up with the girls next week, we would usually go out somewhere for tea but are going round to someone's house instead and each taking something for the meal. It will probably involve a small spend but much less than going to a restaurant or pub :)

Always pay your debts firstBudget is done for January and debt payment has been made - no additional debt payments today.

List your frogsMade a start on this and will add to the list as I think of more - nothing ticked off the list so far today.

Little savings I've added a whole £2.50 to my emergency fund taking it to £9.50 :rotfl:, will continue to add as I can - added £2 from bank account reward, now have £12 :D plus added 3p to the loose change pot.

Chill out – Will aim to read a bit every day. I've also got a few adult colouring books which have been sitting there for ages so will aim to do some colouring in too - read a bit more of my book earlier.

Helping others – I've set up a charity donation which will come out at the start of the month. I'll also add items to the food bank whenever I'm in the supermarket - planning a sort through of clothes at some point so will take a bag to the CS.

Always be gratefulWill post 3 gratitudes each day. - feeling a bit better, a lovely walk round the park and tea in the slow cooker making the flat smell amazing :D

New to YouMe and OH are planning to do a huge sort though of all our stuff, there's still unopened boxes from when we moved in, who knows what treasures we might find ;) - no progress on this today.

Get involvedI always struggle with daily posting but will try this month - I'm here :D

ExerciseI really need to get back into exercising regularly. I got some vouchers for Christmas to get more running shoes so that will be my first step - still not feeling up for running or the gym but went another walk around the park.

Sort it out I don't really have anything in the cupboards lurking that doesn't get used except spices but will aim to use up some of them - paprika and chilli flakes used today.
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.98

Went for a 40 minute run this morning, glad to have that done early so I can forget about it for today. Stripped, aired and re-made all the beds, done 4 loads of washing and drying, walked the dog but will go again after tea. Took a small pot of bolognese sauce out of the freezer for my tea, everyone else is having non vegan food.

Swallowed a massive frog today and went to the building society to register power of attorney on my mum's account, didn't want to do it but it wasn't an ordeal at all. Got the kids savings accounts updated with their interest whilst I was there but I do need to move these to a higher interest account but find it a complete pain because as soon as I do it the interest goes down and I have to book another 1hr appointment and go through it all again.

Whilst in town I got DS a birthday cake, he wanted red velvet and it was cheaper to buy than me to get all the ingredients in and make a huge cake, I just got one of the Asda extra special ones as they seem to go down well. Had a peruse around the charity shops with DD, she got a couple of things but as I am on a no buy I only looked for the things we actually needed, DD did find a BN bottle of Dr Bronners which we have needed for a while for cleaning makeup brushes, it was 99p so I got that.

High excitement was had when DD and I shared a Greggs vegan sausage roll, it was really nice and it is so long since I had pastry and it was as yummy as I remember, a nice treat for £1.

Tesco are delivering my groceries this afternoon, much lower spend than the last few weeks as we have loads in.

dottydaisy - I have loads of savings pots on my current account to, it has been a lifesaver doing my budgeting that way.
Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Afternoon all, didn't manage to check in yesterday, so am posting for both days:

    NSDs – Still 1 / 10 :)

Make plans for the month – 3 birthdays to buy presents for this month, the first of which is on Saturday. Good news is that I have most of what I need for this present. Will look for a small item to go with what I already have tomorrow (probably). Hopefully in a sale! Will do this tomorrow!

Always pay your debts first – No debts here (not now, anyway!). Standing orders for savings will go out on their allotted days.

List your frogs – Need to do this, though I am fairly good at tackling frogs as and when they arise. My last job involved almost continuous frog sorting, often juggling multiple frogs at the same time - love this image :rotfl: so I guess the habit has stayed with me! Current frog is to log into OH's and my HMRC accounts to make sure that there is no income tax owing (I don't think there is) before the end of the month deadline.

Little Savings – I have £7 worth of saved up coins (the annoying coppers and 5ps that seem to take over my purse if I let them!) counted out and ready in their bags to go to the building society :)Still to do, aiming to go into town tomorrow to do these little jobs

Chill out – I am fairly chilled out these days :)

Helping others – Regular donation to food bank to do when I next go to the supermarket. I also need to sort out some items for the CS. Food bank donation done for this month :)

Always be grateful – Grateful for:
Time spent in the garden today
Dog making me laugh charging about after his bath
Lots of work done for my tiny business yesterday so I shan't need to worry about that too much till Monday - although I can always achieve more!
My hyacinths starting to come into bloom in their pretty glass vases :)

New to You – Finished moisturiser, so got some out of a small stash I have in a drawer in the bedroom. This was bought on offer some time ago. I used up the day cream and am now on the night cream - both morning and evening :rotfl:It seems slightly thicker but otherwise the same, and my face didn't fall off using the daycream at night as well, so I will probably be ok :D

Get involved – I am here :hello:
Exercise – I have been gardening again today - dug a big hole and planted a shrub, and replanted some bulbs that got dug up in the process, and carted the big, heavy pot that the shrub came out of round to the back garden. Also walked the dog round the park with OH.

Sort it out – Had to buy one or two bits and pieces as we had an overnight guest last night, and DD is coming round for dinner tonight, but mainly using what I have. Need to check fridge to make sure nothing is going off / near its date as applicable.

Noted all spends in diary, and will update my spreadsheet once I have checked the bank accounts to see what direct debits have gone out. :)
  • Afternoon :)

Still on 0 NSDs, food shop plus coffee shop trip today. Hoping to rack them up when I'm back at work.

Exercise: another short run and a walk around town. 12k steps in total! I felt so much better yesterday after a bit of exercise, no alcohol and mostly healthy eating that it's inspired me to carry on.

I'm also making sure I have some time to myself and have been getting on with my knitting. Gloves nearly finished, then I have spinning to do. Amazingly I am finally getting near to the end of my yarn/fibre stash so I need to buy more! That will be a nice treat for me next month.

I went through my budget and found an extra £50. Now squirrelled away in a couple of pots. Food budget looking ok, school lunches already paid up and all bills sorted. I'm also due a small refund, must put to my EF rather than frittering.

Finally cooked the gammon joint we bought before cmas! So that'll do us several meals.

Today I am grateful for getting out with dd, for fleecy blankets to snuggle under when my sinuses got me up at 6, for big sis staying over, for plenty of birdsong, for finding 43p roadkill, for dd's growing independance, for finishing my sch prep, for doing some sewing, for dd creating another lovely Syl fam dress.

  • #12 just checking in with a quick hello :j

Still laid up in bed with this pesky cold virus... it does however have its definite advantages!

    NSD 3/10.

Grocery spend still at £0 so far for January.

Hubs and children have taken down all the Christmas decs.

Hubs just made a quite tasty ‘freezer surprise’ meal of which I actually ate some (my first proper food in a few days). Quite hopeful that I’ve also lost a bit of the ‘Christmas bulge’!

On a much more serious note, my BF’s hubby had a mild heart attack on New Year’s Eve and I’m pleased to say that he’s recovering well, has had a stent fitted today and should be allowed home later. It was such a shock when we found out, we really do all need to be thankful for every single day don’t we?!

Have a lovely evening turtles :)
    TOTAL DEBT @ 01.02.20. = £21,452.67
  • Hello Turtles.
Lots of love to all of the poorlies - take care of yourselves. Self care is the most important thing of all. Rest, relaxation, paracetamol etc.
I have been so busy today. Left the house at 9 and got in just after 5. BUT... I got my nsd :j I'm still quite surprised by this but relieved as well. I can lack willpower sometimes.
So I did everything I needed to today, took bestie to and from the garage, tutoring (£50 much needed), dd free hair colour correction, took delivery of Mr S and finally put my feet up just before 7.
The crochet blanket is finished, and I found the cat's missing medicine so I've crossed 2 frogs off the list today as well. Not gotten round to much in the way of budgeting or debt payments but I will do it before I go to bed tonight.
    Today I am grateful for:
Earning some much needed extra cash
No substitutions on my grocery order
Remembering to put the recycling out :D

Hugs to those in need of them.

Spend free days (NSD’s) – 2/20. NSD achieved

Make plans for the month – Planning to see 2 films at cinema. Will bring my own refreshments. The cost is £4.99 per film. These are my only plans at the moment.

Always pay your debts first – Budget set. No debt. Do have savings, monthly DD already set up. Will add extra when I can.

List your frogs – Got the measurements done for carpet/lino. Finally just got quote, but with the carpet I pick store manager said it will not be done until February. Coming back to me tomorrow as I said that I want it done this month. Has to chase it up with the man who did the measurements to give me more options of colours. Was a reasonable price. Took a few bits eg glass/carton to local recycling. Did phone up GP surgery regarding an email I sent regarding my medication, seems that admin dealt with it but not told my GP regarding it. This has now been done, will have to see if GP has any concerns regarding it.

Little savings – Any change from each week I will put coins into coin bags and when full will put into savings accounts. Also am always on the lookout for roadkill.

Chill out – This I already do. Will carry on with self-care, eg meditation, reading, wordsearch. This is very important for my MH. Done self care.

Helping others – Will be looking into food bank donation. Cash donation already done to charity.

Always be grateful – Grateful for: Getting measurements for carpet/lino and a quote for now. Receiving the Epsom salts parcel that I ordered, was 25kg for £32.50(I know it is a big order but will benefit my psoriasis, arthritis and health and it will last quite a while and I have saved money in the long run). Going to be having an early night.

New to You – This I will be doing. Got quite a few cross stitch kits that I can start on.

    Get involved – Checking in

Exercise – I also have joined up for R.E.D. January. Walked to and from local recycling point. 30 minutes in total of exercise.

Sort it out – Will be making sure I am using everything up. Will be using up my toiletries – these I have really got down and monitoring them closely.
