    Good morning lovely ladies.

It's February and it's getting hard to stay motivated right???

Well time for a little pep talk. ;)

Are you a "hot mess"? Living in a world where nothing is right, where you feel overwhelmed, exhausted and where there is never time to do the things you want.

how often do we say my life will be better when.........

    I've cleared my debts.......
    I've lost weight......
    I get a better job ........
    I retire..........
    I meet "The guy"........

How often do we put our lives on hold believing that we will be happy when we are slim, we have money, we are part of a couple or ........

How much do we miss out on in the meantime, waiting for the magic to happen. Let's face it - it's just another form of procrastination isn't it. Vaguely wishing and hoping that all the good things will happen.

I call this the Cinderella Complex........waiting for some mythical fairy godmother to wave her magic wand and transform our lives.

Well unfortunately it ain't going to happen. :D. This is real life in all its vagaries and complexities. I believe we have to take control and becomes mistresses of our own destinies.

As I used to tell my sons, "Good things don't just fall out of the sky and land in our laps, we have to go out and grab them".

What has all this got to do with fabbing......??

In a word, the short answer is, EVERYTHING. Because this is where it starts. And, as we are now well into February and spring is just round the corner, it's time to get serious.

By all means set goals and long term objectives but it really begins with three small steps.......

Pay DAILY attention to the following three areas of your life and everything else will slot into place.......these three areas are the building blocks of a fabulous well lived life. They are the key.

    1. Your home. Own it or rent it, live with your parents, house share or whatever - it makes no odds. Make your personal space your sanctuary, a haven of peace and tranquility. Your home is from where you draw your strentgh. Even if you are skint you can make it into a stylish retreat.

You can't function properly if your home is a mess. So declutter, clean it until it gleams and sparkles, give it a lick of paint if necessary, freshen it up with flowers or a couple of nice plants. Add a little luxury, candles, a nice throw, some nice art work.....posters and prints, art doesn't have to be expensive.

Feather your nest and make it a cosy haven from where you sally forth into the world, ready to slay dragons,

    2. Your food. Remember the old adage. You are what you eat, feed your body junk and you will feel like junk. Give your body the nurtrients it needs. Proper food, cooked well and served nicely. The odd microwave ready meal won't kill you when you are really pushed for time but don't make them your daily diet.

It doesn't have to be complicated. Food can be simple, nutritious and delicious. Good food is one of life's greatest pleasures so eat like a queen and eat for health.

    3. Yourself. Your face, your hair, your clothes. Make an effort to be well turned out. Every day.

Obviously if you are doing dirty jobs such as extreme cleaning, gardening or decorating then joggies or those tired old baggy jeans are just fine but there's no excuse to be looking tatty and dishevelled once you have finished the messy jobs. Get changed and cleaned up.

Always aim to look and smell good, even if it's an at home day.

Never look such a mess or allow your home to look so bad that you would feel embarrassed if a friend knocked on your door. :rotfl:

Fabbing is about concentrating on these three areas each and every day, your home, your food and your appearance. Focus on these and you will soon start to feel and look fabulous.

    I promise.

    Have a great day y'all.

I am off out to lunch with a dear friend in one of my favourite cafes.

She also has written under the name of Madeleine Wickham (which is her real name, I believe) - these novels are slightly different from the Sophie Kinsella ones.

Oh yes, I remember reading that.:) I haven't read those ones yet.

Candygirl - I suffer if I'm cold too - thyroid issues for years so if I get cold it takes me ages to warm up. I've just been looking at heated throws as DH is always toasty warm and as its just me thats cold not always worth putting the heating on. A friend of mine has one and I was really impressed. Nice and cosy especially round my feet & legs!

LL - thanks v much for the message. Absolutely right on all counts so I've just washed & blow dried my hair properly!! ......might get round to the dusting lol ;)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
