  • Maman, the self referral is great as you just phone up and the receptionist books you for the next convenient appointment. As the physio said to me what is the point of you going to the GP and wasting his time with something he will just refer to the physio and then you wait for the letter, much more efficient and hopefully seeing them faster will stop things deteriorating. I was see by a student, she was a third year and on her last placement before qualifying. I wrote a letter saying how brilliant she was as I knew it would go on her file.

Savingfortomorrow I am another one who seems to be spending far too much. DDs wedding isn't helping, she lives 100 miles away and I've done a few trips to look at places/things with her and the petrol adds up and of course mum likes to take them out for a meal while I'm there and buy some treats. I've only got one daughter so why not? I do need to calm it down a bit, once the wedding is over I will be good! I've also spent alot stocking up the cupboards, I got caught out last winter with the snow and ran out of several things so I'm determined to do better this year. Of course that probably means we will have a very mild winter and no snow where I live.

I am going to splurge on a good haircut, someone has recommended a salon in a nearby town, it is an expensive place but I haven't had my hair cut since August so I think I can justify a good cut.

Humpty don't feel guilty for living a life, just remember to do it fabulously.
Lantanna, hibernate while wearing a face mask and moisturising your lashes and lips, when you emerge from the cocoon into spring you'll be ready for anything

  • Thanks teedy, this is the first day since Christmas when I actually looked in the mirror and thought I was a bit fab. I have got my hair back to a normal colour thanks to a tip about vosene, I've got a bit of work this morning, I do a bit of consultancy, so I was up early and put a smart outfit on and proper make up. I am just having some toast and a cuppa and will be off soon.

Hope everyone has a fab day.

    Good morning lovely ladies..,,

Just a quickie, so forgive me for not addressing you all personally. Shoulder is improving. The massage helped and yesterday I kept it warm and rested it. I should be able start my physio exercises today.

My son has now set up my gym equipment so I now have a nice warm exercise space. I am just off to walk to the library so I intend to start using my little home gym this afternoon. No more painting for a few days.

Humpty you sound much better. Fabbing definitely works.....I think January and February can be such difficult months. We miss the daylight, and are often tired and run down after the madness of Christmas. A little TLC can work wonders.

Today I shall be giving myself a mini facial and a manicure. My hands are looking and feeling a lot better.

Not long now till your holiday, Maman.

Keep at it Ladies, you will be rewarded for your efforts.

Glad you're feeling a little less stiff LL. Please don't start overdoing it with the gym equipment!:D

That's right, less than two weeks:D. I've had a check through this morning that I have all the clothes I'm likely to need. We are staying in some smart hotels so I wasn't sure about the evenings. I think my silk shift dresses will be fine and they pack well. I might take a jumpsuit too. For the daytime I have some loose, cool dresses but I'm also packing some trousers and skirts with a range of tee shirt type tops. I think 'loose' is the key word as there's nothing worse than tight clothes when it's hot (or when you've eaten too much;)). Although I'll pack a swimsuit (most hotels have pools too) most of my 'beach club' clothes won't be coming. I'm taking a couple of large scarves as well to cover arms/head for some of the visits.

Glad you're starting to feel good again humpty. Fingers crossed I'm now on the mend. Yesterday was the first day I wasn't waiting every 4 hours for paracetamol. Today I've taken decongestants to help clear things up. :)

First funeral today. My neighbour was a catholic so it could be a full mass (was when her DH died some years ago). I'll probably wear my long, black wool coat as it has a hood and it's possible there might be light rain.

  • This might not sound very fab but bear with me! I was listening to Woman's Hour on Radio 4 and they had a talk on pelvic floor and incontinence. The physio gave a great explanation of pelvic floor exercises and said women who did them 3 times a day for 3 months had a cure rate of 80% which I thought was pretty impressive. They also talked about the cost of incontinence and said in the UK we don't know but Australia did a study of all the related costs, including things like people rushing for the loo and falling over and breaking a hip, and they reckoned incontinence cost £49 billion a year. By my reckoning it means if everyone with an incontinence problem in Australia did the exercises the saving would be almost £40 billion a year. Pretty mindblowing.

As I said it doesn't sound like fabbing but wet knickers definitely aren't fab so for the sake of doing these exercises people can avoid or cure incontinence which sounds pretty fab to me.

    Random thought for the day.
  • My tip is to be realistic, I know we all want to look fabulous but on the kind of budget I have it would take a miracle, so can we have some really down to earth tips please, seriously I don't know where to start!
  • Tomorrow I am going to the charity shop and then to reflexology afterwards. I just booked ear candling again as I'm still having trouble with my sinuses. I booked a GP appointment next week just in case I need to take another course of antibiotics. Grrr.

Oh well, it will be a nice day tomorrow. I am going to do a face mask etc... before I go out.:A

Same here! I didn't go out at all today, I usually force myself for a walk but really didn't want to today.

    That is quite interesting.:)

I hope I won't have that problem as I've never had kids but it wouldn't hurt to do them anyway.

Agree with you humpty , also don't forget the embarrassment of going to the drs . Tenna rely on people being too embarrassed for their profits. We were given info about pelvic floor exercises and taught how to do them at antenatal classes.

Atm it is a struggle to fab . I joined leisure centre and got discount. Tuesday night was a girls night out to see a musical and meal out. Late night as motorway was closed for the way home. What a drag drove back through A roads. I am busy at work as well so last night I just vegged out on sofa. Still exhausted so have dragged dinner from bottom of freezer..Freezer needs replacing so probably not a bad idea.
I have had an email from boots flogging no7 but offering free makeover. Might look in to that also need to get my hair cut..
