Actually, I just thought why am I waiting for tomorrow just because it is a new week?!:rotfl:
I'm going to do 15 minutes on the trampoline right now.:j0 -
Wednesday.....well done you go girl.
Same here, no more procrastination. Drop cloths down, ladder set up, a quick cuppa and then I'm going to crack on. Starting with the beams.
Thanks for the picture....it's truly amazing what a few gallons of paint can achieve.
Actually quick question.......I'm wondering whether to go for different coloured base units or wether to keep base and top cupboards matchjng. I like that graphite grey and I love those deep dark blues that are so fashionable right now. I would love to paint the lot dark blue but just wondering if it would be too much, although my plain white China would look lovely set against the blue on the open shelves. Maybe stainless steel and Copper accessories.
I was thinking a darker colour for base units and then bone or pale grey for the top units or as I say keeping them all matchjng. In the dining area My table and chairs are hand painted pale grey and the beams and ceiling in both rooms will be antique white. Not quite sure about the walls - but basically a neutral with a either a feature wall or the shelved alcove in the dining area painted to match the base units to tie it all together.
Currently the worktops are dark blue. They are ok But I will probably replace them.
Decisions......:rotfl:
Yes I'll definitely be removing the doors etc.....much easier.
Right I'm ready........0 -
Thanks for the good wishes. I'm certainly feeling no worse today. I'm keeping up with the paracetamol/Lemsip and drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated.:)
Hopefully you will turn the corner soon.
Do pace yourself carefully LL and when you do the ceiling ask one of your DSs to help or use one of those rollers on a pole. I may have posted before that we painted our kitchen to refresh it and give it some life until I could decide on a replacement. We'd recently visited Giverny so I used Monet's dining room as inspiration, painting all the units in two shades of yellow.
It worked well and I found the easiest way to get a good finish on the doors was to take them off, prop them up on tins of food from the kitchen and paint them horizontal on a table. Less stretching too.:)
I cheated and took the doors to a local spray paint business on the industrial site. They spray cars and machines and all sorts. So I took my doors along and they prepped them and sprayed them. They looked great.
Well done on the weightloss!:T This may sound like a dumb question but what did you eat that made you put on weight? Knowing that things like chocolate and cakes and cheese would be off the menu I'm curious. Or is there special junk food for vegans?:D
I know what you mean about a weight that you 'look good at'. For my height, I know I look good in a size 12. Any thinner and I start to look a bit gaunt and my inner thighs and arms get a bit wrinkly. That's where I am at the moment (having deliberately lost a few pounds since Christmas) . I want to be at the bottom of my preferred weight before I go away as then it allows for any gains as I'll have little control over food.
That is a good idea, no worrying about enjoying the food while you are away.
Thanks for that link Maddie. I'm reasonably happy with my hair but anything to make it a bit thicker would be useful. I'll read it shortly. Do you wash your hair every day?
I'm going to have a look as well but I am pleased with the results of my PK products. Definitely looking healthier and very little hair in the brush.
Interesting that you normally wear your hair very short humpty. My hair isn't thick enough to wear really long but I've experimented with various looks over the years. The best choice I made was to grow out most of the layers (although kept fringe). It's in a bob, more or less chin length at the front but cut in at the back.
I had a similar cut two or 3 years ago, I've really had every style going over the years. Has been very short for the last couple of years and short hair suits me and my hair but I like a change. I've got to have a think about what I want to do for DDs wedding.
Despite not being able to taste/smell anything I'm going out for tea this afternoon. I've decided to wear my Zara maxi dress but unbutton the front a bit (at the bottom!) as I'm going to wear leggings and my black suede boots. It's a glorious day here, sunny and bright so it'll be good to get out for a while.:)
Sounds very glam. It is miserable here and I'm recovering from a busy weekend with GC. DH not great and he is feeling very down which I find hard.
I've got a nice face pack and am planning on having a pamper evening. I took your tip about rubbing the flaxseed oil into my nails and hands and it does seem to have made my nails look better. I've never been very good at looking after my hands.
Must think about doing some food, DH doesn't want to eat so it needs to be nice to tempt him.0 -
LL I think that I would be wandering around with all the paint colour swatches for ages before I made up my mind, I am not so good at envisaging how things would look these days:( It all sounds very exciting:D
Maman your outfit for today sounds great, hope that you have a good time. I seem to have settled on washing my hair every other day, occasionally leaving it another day if it fits in better with plans for going out. My hands and arms are not good for styling every day. My style seems very much like yours, bobbed to just below chin length and cut in at the back. It is currently grey with dark blonde highlights, I may try to go all grey again in a few months and see how I look, have been too washed out looking in the past, even wearing make up and bright lipsticks. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. I love the idea of painting my kitchen cabinets as I, also can't decide what replacement kitchen I want. Any hints and tips appreciated.
I would also like to know how you all remember who you are replying to. By the time I have finished reading all your posts, I've forgotton who wrote what!
I have not been to a hairdresser in a few years. I have very curly hair and have never found a hairdresser who specialises in curls, so I just cut it myself. it goes it's own way anyway, no nothing to lose.
I bought some false nails yesterday (my real nails just keep breaking at the moment, better if I drink water though) and am just about to try them out - never done anything like this before, so could be a disaster ...............:rotfl:0 -
What a great thread!
I started the year with a wardrobe clear out (taken to charity) and getting rid of everything that I no longer wear, or looks good!
Shopping for affordable essentials, I have found Ebay sooo good! I managed to get such a great dress on there for a total of £4 including postage.
You might have to take time searching through the pages but I've found that you can narrow it down if you search by label or description.
Fun to do on a Sunday morning with a coffee!
This year I really want to try and spend a lot less on clothes because really, there's no need!
Ebay and TK Maxx I have found to be really good.0 -
Good morning everyone
Well made a good start in painting the beams. Started with the darkest corner and the difference is really marked....so much lighter and brighter. Very pleased. I used furniture chalk paint and the coverage is brilliant. I'll only need one coat. And of course chalk paint doesn't require all that sanding, priming and undercoating. You just slap it on and hey presto, job done. Brilliant.
Spent a happy hour googling hand painted kitchens and kitchen makeovers and have More or less got it worked out now.
I'm going with dark blue base units, and bone or pale grey top units. I need to get a carpenter to reposition some of the units for a better layout so I'll get cracking with that. I have also decided to go for a new cooker at some point. It's all systems go......:rotfl:
I think it's going to look good. And a lot cheaper than a new kitchen. I've not given myself a budget as such but I don't think it will break the bank.
Just dropped the car off for its MOT. I have treated it to some new wheel trims and have asked the guys there to fix those for me and give it a valet. I hate cleaning cars and mine hasn't been touched in over a year.....to be fair I only had on street parking at the last house.
Pleased with my hair cut and my skin is loving the dermologica. Just wish it was a bit cheaper but it does make a huge difference.
Right time to get cracking......aiming for some more painting later.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I had a quiet week last week as my Arthritis was giving me pain, so I had relaxing baths with Epsom with Lavender bath salts, Dove oil and Dove bath creme. I got plenty of rest and in the end, I was no longer aching all over.
I went to see the film Mary Queen of Scots yesterday in the mid afternoon and in the evening I went to Karaoke. I really enjoyed both events.
I am paying attention to my finger nails at the moment as they are in need of some pampering. I am using No7 Strength and Growth treatment on them daily and it is really helping to improve the overall condition of my fingernails.0 -
I need to start putting oil on my nails again as I thought today that they keep breaking.
I feel achy today. I don't think it was the trampoline, I think it was the arm weights I used afterwards.:D
I just had a nice bath and shaved my legs and put body scrub on my feet. No exercise today, just relaxation.:)2025 GOALS

Good news.....car sailed through it's MOT, nothing needed.
Phew. :rotfl:
DOne an hours painting so far.....need a rest now. Will try and do another hour after lunch. And then I'll call it a day and hit the sofa. Easy dinner tonight, courgetti bolognese.
My nails are in a poor state too. Combination of cold weather and diy. They definitely need some TLC.
Welcome Joey.....sounds like you've made a good start. You're right about eBay. I've had some great bargains.0
